New Heineken Factory Built on 100 Hectares Begins Operation in July 2025 and Promises to Transform the Economy of Passos with Job Creation and Local Development.
The Dutch brewery Heineken has begun the testing phase at its new production unit located in the municipality of Passos, in Minas Gerais. The factory, which started construction in 2023, is expected to officially begin beverage production in July 2025. According to the company, the initial operational tests were successful.
The new factory is being completed on a 100-hectare area, along the highway connecting Passos to the neighboring city of São João Batista do Glória. The facility represents Heineken’s 15th industrial plant in Brazil and promises to transform the region’s economy.
Tests Progress and Production Begins in July
According to the industrial director of the Dutch brewery, Reinaldo Franco, the installation process is on schedule. He explained that the current stage involves a series of simultaneous activities, such as equipment assembly, structure installation, and completion of civil works.

The Joinville Bridge, the municipality’s main mobility project, will have a 160-meter central span over Babitonga Bay without a pillar in the river’s course.
“We are currently finishing the physical constructions. We have buildings, equipment being installed, and assemblies being done, so it’s a combination of various activities happening at the same time, to align with our start and schedule,” said Franco.
The testing, which has initially been conducted on the unit’s boiler, is expected to continue until June. Starting in July, the equipment will be ready for the industrial operation of the Dutch brewery.
Generation of Direct and Indirect Jobs
The arrival of the new Heineken factory in Passos is expected to have a significant impact on the local job market. The company’s estimate is that over 300 direct jobs will be created, in addition to another 10,000 indirect jobs along the production, logistics, distribution, and services chain.
