Themed bar in China recreates the Red Dead Redemption 2 universe with an Old West saloon look and hyper-detailed ambiance.
In the West Lake district, in Hangzhou, China, Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have found a place that seems to have come straight out of the universe created by Rockstar Games. Named Valentine, the bar became a topic on social media and gaming forums after images showed an environment extremely faithful to the look of Smithfield’s Saloon, one of the game’s most well-known settings. According to specialized publications and online records shared on Nerdizmo, the space features aged wood, low lighting, wanted posters, Western decor, and visual details that directly recall the fictional town of Valentine from the game.
The visual impact drew attention because the place doesn’t just try to “copy the cowboy style.” The project aims to recreate the specific atmosphere of Red Dead Redemption 2, including rustic tables, period objects, aged signs, typical Old West accessories, and even direct references to game characters, such as Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, and Hosea Matthews.
The result went viral precisely because many players felt like they were seeing a physical, habitable version of the game’s universe.

Bar recreates the Old West atmosphere seen in Red Dead Redemption 2
The Valentine was conceived to function almost as a physical extension of the game’s universe. The released images show a facade built with dark, aged wood, yellowish lighting, and visual elements typical of 19th-century saloons.
According to publications about the venue, the interior also follows the same concept, with rustic tables, Western decor, and objects directly inspired by the Rockstar game.
Smithfield’s Saloon served as the main visual inspiration
Much of the ambiance seems specifically based on Smithfield’s Saloon, a fictional establishment present in Valentine, one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s most iconic towns.
The location is well-known to players because it appears in various missions, encounters, and important moments in the game’s narrative.
On social media, fans pointed out direct similarities between the Chinese bar and the game’s virtual saloon.
Wanted posters and character references appear scattered throughout the environment
Another detail that drew attention was the level of fidelity in the decor. According to records published online, the bar uses:
- wanted posters;
- cowboy hats;
- ropes and lassos;
- low lighting;
- aged decorative objects;
- visual references to the Van der Linde gang.
Publications also mention images associated with important game characters, including Dutch, Arthur, and Hosea.

The project is not limited to architecture and decoration. According to reports and social media posts, Valentine’s menu was designed to resemble typical Old West papers and advertisements seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. This attention to detail helped reinforce the sense of immersion for visitors.
Bar is located in Hangzhou, a city known for the West Lake district
Valentine is located in the West Lake region of Hangzhou, one of China’s most famous tourist areas. The district is internationally known for its historic landscapes, lakes, and traditional architecture.
The contrast between the surrounding Chinese ambiance and a saloon inspired by the American Old West helped increase curiosity about the place on social media.

To date, there is no information indicating an official partnership between the bar and Rockstar Games. Available publications describe Valentine as an independent project inspired by the game’s universe.
This did not prevent the space from attracting attention precisely because of its extreme care with visual details and atmosphere.
Fans compared the place to a “playable map” from Red Dead Redemption 2
In forums and social media, many comments highlighted the feeling of “entering the game.” Reddit users even said the place looks like a real-life version of Valentine, while others stated that the space looks like an interactive western movie set.
The level of detail helped transform the bar into one of the most commented examples of video game-inspired ambiance in recent months.
Part of Valentine’s repercussion also comes from the cultural importance of Red Dead Redemption 2. Released by Rockstar Games in 2018, the game became known for its enormous level of environmental detail, historical recreation of the Old West, and the construction of extremely immersive cities.
The fictional city of Valentine became one of the most recognized settings in the game precisely because of its classic saloon atmosphere, horses, aged wood, and typical urban life of the late 19th century.
Gamer tourism and themed spaces continue to grow
The case of Valentine shows how physical experiences inspired by games are becoming increasingly common.
Bars, cafes, restaurants, and immersive spaces linked to famous franchises are attracting fans interested in visually “entering” the digital universes they usually explore on screens.
In the case of the Chinese bar, the differential seems to have been precisely the extreme focus on atmosphere and not just merchandising.
Valentine has become one of the most curious examples of gamer ambiance in China
Even without an official connection to Rockstar, the bar managed to attract international attention by recreating one of the most well-known settings of Red Dead Redemption 2 in an extremely faithful way.
The project blends Western architecture, thematic decor, and direct references to the game’s universe at a level that many fans considered surprisingly close to the digital original.
And perhaps that’s precisely what made Valentine so talked about: the feeling that, for a few minutes, the visitor truly entered an Old West town built inside a video game.
