The governor of the state of São Paulo, João Doria, has requested the Dubai-based airline Emirates to add an additional flight to the Brazilian state to enhance business ties with Dubai. Currently, Emirates operates daily round-trip flights from Dubai to São Paulo airport.

Doria’s call comes as high-level officials from both countries have pledged to expand trade ties.

After the meeting, the investment promotion agency Invest São Paulo and the Chamber of Dubai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance knowledge sharing between the two entities and businesses in both locations.
According to Doria, 25% of São Paulo’s exports were destined for the United Arab Emirates in 2019, while 30% of the state’s imports came from the United Arab Emirates.
He added that the United Arab Emirates surpassed Italy and became one of the state’s main trading partners.
“The Chamber of Dubai is building strong relationships with Brazil, and our representative office in São Paulo is a testament to our efforts to expand business ties with the Latin American country,” said Al Ghurair. “We are fully committed to providing all necessary support to ensure that relations between Dubai and São Paulo continue to develop and flourish in the future.”
Brazil is one of Dubai’s largest trading partners in Latin America, with non-oil bilateral trade reaching US $ 1.5 billion in 2018. There are more than 130 Brazilian companies registered with the Chamber of Dubai.
