According to Brazilian authorities, 25% of exports from São Paulo were destined for the United Arab Emirates in 2019 against 30% of imports that came from the same destination.
The governor of the state of São Paulo, João Doria, has asked Dubai's Emirates airline to add an additional flight to the Brazilian state to increase commercial ties with Dubai. Currently, Emirates operates daily flights to and from São Paulo airport from Dubai.

Doria's call comes as high-level officials from both countries pledged to expand trade ties.
This week, there was a Dubai-Sao Paulo Business Forum, which included the president of the Doria and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Majid Saif Al Ghurair.
After the meeting, the investment promotion agency Invest São Paulo and the Dubai Chamber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase knowledge sharing between the two entities and companies in the two locations.
According to Doria, 25% of exports from São Paulo were destined for the United Arab Emirates in 2019, while 30% of the state's imports came from the United Arab Emirates.
He added that the UAE has surpassed Italy and become one of the main trading partners of the state.
“The Dubai Chamber is building strong relationships with Brazil, and our representative office in São Paulo is a testament to our efforts to expand trade ties with the Latin American country,” said Al Ghurair. “We are fully committed to providing all necessary support to ensure that relations between Dubai and São Paulo continue to develop and flourish in the future.”
Brazil is one of Dubai's largest trading partners in Latin America, with bilateral non-oil trade reaching US$1,5 billion in 2018. There are over 130 Brazilian companies registered with the Dubai Chamber.
