The Impacts of the Coronavirus on the Oil and Gas Sector
The pandemic brought severe impacts to the oil and gas sector worldwide, and the situation in Rio de Janeiro was no different. Firjan’s study emphasizes that in February of last year, at the start of the pandemic in Brazil, 375 job openings were recorded in this sector in Rio de Janeiro; by June of the same year, the number plummeted to five vacancies, confirming the impact of the crisis in the country.
According to Fernando Ruschel Montera, coordinator of Oil, Gas, and Naval Relations at the federation, the recovery starting in the second half of last year, even if partial, is mainly linked to the international context of rising oil prices and the expectation of a global economic recovery, with the advancement of vaccination campaigns in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.
Firjan Discusses Opportunities for Interns
Firjan’s research also recorded that 56% of formal job openings in the first quarter of this year were aimed at professionals with a complete higher education; another part, with 26%, was for workers with ongoing higher education, the technical level accounted for 14%, and high school represented 8%.
Firjan concluded by stating that there are also internship opportunities for both higher education and vocational training. The mapping demonstrates Firjan SENAI’s capacity to train these professionals with technical courses in Mechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Electrotechnics, Occupational Safety, and Electromechanics.
