Canned Market in Expansion
The aluminum can is the most sustainable packaging in the beverage chain. This is because it is 100% and infinitely recyclable and, when disposed of correctly, returns to the shelves in just 60 days as a new can – a perfect example of a circular economy. To put it into perspective, in Brazil alone, its recycling rate reaches 97.4%.
As a result of high consumer demand, the national aluminum can market has shown positive data: according to information from Abralatas, in the first half of this year, a 22.6% increase in sales of cans to beverage bottling companies was recorded compared to the same period in 2020. The country is the third-largest producer of aluminum cans in the world, with an annual volume of 32 billion units (2020).
