MSC Shuba B Driven by the Growth of Brazilian Fruit Production
The MSC Shuba B docked at the Port of Pecém, driven by the growth of Brazilian fruit production. Melons from Rio Grande do Norte make up the majority of the cargo handled by Pecém in this segment. However, fruits such as mangoes and grapes produced in Ceará and the Vale do São Francisco region, where the cities of Juazeiro da Bahia and Petrolina are located, are also shipped through the port terminal.
“The arrival of this ship at the Ceará port is a source of pride for the entire team of professionals at the Port of Pecém, especially for those who have been with us for many years. We recently completed the construction of Berth 10 to enhance our operational capacity, and now, shortly after, we have the opportunity to welcome a giant of the seas, a great gift just in the year we celebrate 18 years of operation of our port terminal. Thus, we are following the guidance of Governor Camilo Santana to transform Pecém into the entry and exit gateway for cargo to the Brazilian Northeast,” emphasizes Danilo Serpa – President of the Complexo do Pecém.

About the MSC Shuba B Ship
Built three years ago, the MSC Shuba B has the capacity to transport 11,000 TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit). Coming from Salvador (BA), the vessel is headed to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
In addition to the routes that already connected the Port of Pecém to the United States and Northern Europe, in August of last year, the Ceará port began operating a new line to the European continent heading to ports in the Mediterranean, such as Valencia (9 days of travel) and Barcelona (11 days) in Spain, and Genoa (13 days) in Italy.
This new service, operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), enabled the connection of fruit containers to Middle Eastern countries from Valencia.
