Continental, One of the World’s Largest Tire Manufacturers, Recently Announced an Investment of Nearly R$ 180 Million to Expand Its Factory in Ponta Grossa, Paraná.
Continental has a global presence in over 60 countries and employs more than 233,000 people worldwide. The company offers a wide range of automotive products and services, including tires, brake systems, chassis technology, and electronic components.
The expansion of the unit aims to increase tire production capacity to meet the growing demand in the Brazilian market. The announcement made by Continental last Tuesday stated that the investment for the factory expansion would be close to R$ 180 million.
Thus, Continental will be the first company to provide Brazil with high-strength conveyor belt technology— it will start producing steel wire conveyor belts with resistance exceeding 6,000 N/mm and up to 10,000 N/mm.

According to Continental itself, the factory expansion will allow for the creation of around 200 new direct and indirect job vacancies in the region. Moreover, the investment is expected to contribute to the economic development of Ponta Grossa and the state of Paraná as a whole.
Continental Aims to Reach Brazilian Consumers and Relies on Paraná’s Infrastructure to Enhance Its Factories
According to the president of Continental for South America, Frédéric Sebbagh, the goal of enhancing the factory in Paraná is to more closely serve the growing South American market. To achieve this, it is necessary for the factory to be located in a well-developed and well-located region like Ponta Grossa, Paraná.
In addition, he highlights some specificities of the Latin American market: “It is a market that has high demand for solutions for handling raw materials such as iron and copper, resulting from urbanized and electric mobility.”
Authorities in Paraná Are Excited About Continental’s Installation
According to the mayor of Ponta Grossa, the increase in production at the factory is of great importance for local growth.
She also emphasizes Continental’s role in job creation and in the regional market: “We have seen significant growth in the industrial sector, consolidating our city as one of the giants of the country in the business environment and with substantial contributions to ICMS collection in Paraná. Continental is part of this story of progress and contributes to the development of Ponta Grossa and job creation.”
