Zuckerberg Gains Ground In Dispute With Musk As Active User Numbers Increase And Rival Loses Ground Among The Connected.
The battle between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk may never reach the octagon, but on social media, the clash remains intense — and Zuckerberg is gaining ground.
Threads, Meta’s platform that emerged as an alternative to X (formerly Twitter), is starting to threaten the rival’s leadership in the microblogging segment.
Threads Nears X In Mobile Daily Users
Data from Similarweb released by TechCrunch shows that Threads reached 115.1 million daily active users on mobile devices in June.

As European shipyards struggle to regain relevance in global shipbuilding, Hanwha Ocean delivered the 200th liquefied natural gas carrier in the company’s history at the Geoje shipyard in South Korea, an absolute global milestone. It also secured new contracts with Italy’s Edison and Norway’s Knutsen to build two more 174,000 cubic meter ships with dual-fuel MAN ME-GI engines, which have some of the lowest residual methane levels in the global maritime industry.

While state Detrans took an average of nine months to issue the first Brazilian CNH even after passing the theoretical and practical exams, Senatran released the new CNH do Brasil app in January 2026, which reduced the time to just two months through mandatory facial biometrics with Liveness Check, integration with the Federal Revenue, and a theoretical exam taken on the cell phone itself, and more than ten thousand Brazilians have already graduated through the app in just two months of operation.

Argentina approves the largest mining concession in the country since the 1980s, and McEwen Copper will invest 4 billion dollars in the Los Azules project in the Andean province of San Juan to extract 205,000 tons of copper annually from the world’s ninth-largest undeveloped deposit in partnership with Stellantis and Rio Tinto. Geologists say that the more Argentina advances Los Azules, the sooner Patagonia will replace the Congo as the largest global exporter of copper in the southern hemisphere.
The number represents a significant approach to X’s 132 million, controlled by Elon Musk.
More than the absolute numbers, the trend points in opposite directions: Threads grew 127.8% compared to the same period last year, while X lost 15.2% of its active user base.
Meta’s platform, integrated with Instagram, has attracted users seeking an alternative to the turbulent environment of X.
Launched as a “Twitter clone,” Threads was designed with a focus on mobile use, which helps explain its advance among mobile users.
X Still Leads In Desktop Access
Despite the advantage in mobile usage, Threads is still far behind X in desktop accesses.
According to TechCrunch, Musk’s platform had 145.8 million daily visits in June from computers. Threads, on the other hand, recorded only 6.9 million in this format.
This difference reveals a distinct usage profile between the platforms.
X is still the preferred space for journalists, frequent users, and real-time debates. Threads appears to follow a more casual behavior, similar to Instagram: the user opens it, scrolls a bit, and closes.
Bluesky Grows, But Remains Small
Another competitor in this landscape is Bluesky, a network created as an alternative to X for those rejecting Musk’s management.
The platform grew 372.5% in active users year over year, but its reach is still limited. With 4.1 million daily active users and 37 million registered accounts, Bluesky remains a small presence in this ecosystem.
Although Zuckerberg is gaining ground, many users view the dispute with skepticism. The swap from Musk to Zuckerberg may be seen by some as a slight improvement, but far from ideal. After all, both have accumulated controversies and controversial decisions.
Even though Zuckerberg isn’t involved in attacks on government infrastructure, he has also supported those who allowed it.
The anticipated cage fight never happened — but in the digital arena, the confrontation continues.
