ORSV-type vessels are designed for recovering spilled oil in oceanic regions. Therefore, it must be quick to reach the oil slick in the least amount of time to prevent its dispersion, demonstrate good maneuverability guaranteed by the use of azimuthal thrusters, and contain an effective oil recovery system capable of providing a better response to the spill, equipped with specific and high-tech equipment to, for example, detect, suction, and store the spilled oil. In addition to the function of containing and recovering the oil, ORSVs also feature firefighting equipment, such as high-flow pumps and water jet launchers, since they operate in areas with explosive atmospheres.
