Mercedes-Benz and Prosegur Joined Forces to Develop the Largest Armored Truck in All of Latin America. The Vehicle Has a Power of 439 Horsepower and a Torque of 224 kgfm.
The transport of cargo in Brazil is basically concentrated on road transportation. Aside from all the infrastructure problems present on the country’s highways, there is also the issue of violence. Regarding the transportation of high-value cargo, between 2011 and 2016, thefts caused a loss of R$ 6.1 billion to companies. Therefore, there is a growing need for a security system, especially for armored trucks, and that is what Mercedes-Benz and Prosegur decided to develop.
Largest Armored Truck in Latin America Can Tow Up to 74 Tons
Prosegur, one of the largest groups in the cash transport sector, and the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, developed, in 2017, a special version of the heavy Axor in the 2644 configuration, simply the largest cash truck in Latin America.
Among the modifications made by the companies to the armored version of the Axor 2644 is the addition of a second steering axle, making this mechanical horse, which has a factory 6×4 drivetrain, into an 8×4 version. The armored truck also received a fully armored cabin with space for 4 occupants, aiming to meet all the legislation of the cash transport sector.

To power the armored truck, a Mercedes-Benz MB OM 457 LA six-cylinder inline engine with 12 liters was installed, generating 439 horsepower and 224 kgfm of torque for the vehicle.
NOTE: Torque is a physical concept related to the rotation movement of a body after applying a certain force to it. Imagine you are using a wrench to turn a screw. The force applied to the tool at the moment the screw is unscrewed is the torque.
