Chevrolet is preparing the return of the Onix Activ, the adventurous version of the hatch, to coexist with the arrival of the Sonic, announced by the brand as a new coupe SUV in Brazil.
According to a report published by the Autos Segredos website, the re-launch of the “adventurous” package is scheduled for the current generation of Onix, with a launch planned for the next product cycle, now as line 2027.
This move comes at a time when Chevrolet is reorganizing its entry-level offerings.

Chevrolet has used this recipe in the first phase of the model, when the Onix Activ was offered as a visual variation with adjustments to its proposal.

In this new attempt, the visual identity is expected to follow the pattern described in the report: fender flares, plastic pieces on the lower parts of the doors, roof rack, and all-terrain tires.
The front is expected to receive a bumper with a distinctive finish and darkened elements, while the headlights will feature black masking.
At the rear, the package is also expected to show clear differences compared to the conventional Onix versions.
The rear bumper is likely to gain darker inserts and the taillights should adopt smoked lenses, reinforcing the appearance of a “beefier” version and distinguishing the Activ from the rest of the lineup in the rearview mirror.
Onix Activ Interior with Exclusive Finish
Inside, the proposal is to repeat what the audience usually expects from series with a unique identity: specific changes in finish and upholstery to justify the name and support the positioning.
The investigation indicates seats with synthetic material upholstery and the inscription “Activ” embroidered on the front headrests.
Additionally, the interior is expected to feature contrasting color accents on the dashboard and doors, in line with what had been used in previous versions of the same proposal.
The idea here is that the driver perceives that it is not just external stickers, but a configuration with a unique signature in the cabin.

1.0 Turbo Engine and Automatic Transmission in Onix Activ
In terms of mechanics, the plan is to concentrate the offering of the Onix Activ on the most popular configuration of turbocharged options: 1.0 Turbo three-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic transmission.
As the Autos Segredos newspaper also indicated, the adventurous hatch is expected to be sold only with this package, without an aspirated option.
This 1.0 Turbo, in its most recent calibration, delivers 115 hp with ethanol and gasoline.
The torque reported for models with this engine reaches 16.8 kgfm with ethanol and 16.3 kgfm with gasoline, numbers that already appear in technical sheets for the automatic versions of the Onix.
The report also describes the engine as equipped with oil-coated belt and without direct fuel injection, maintaining fuel supply through port injection.
This solution was preserved by Chevrolet to meet emission requirements without migrating to direct injection in this setup.
Nevertheless, the issue of the oil-coated belt is still on the consumer’s radar.
Tests and reports about the Onix lineup and its derivatives highlight that Chevrolet has maintained the system while also making adjustments and updates to the component to enhance durability.
Discussions often revolve around using lubricant outside the specifications recommended by the manufacturer.
Onix Activ and Coexistence with the New SUV Sonic

When the Onix Activ emerged, the SUV segment still held a different scale in Brazil.
Now, it returns with a Sonic about to debut as a smaller SUV, positioned below the Tracker and designed to compete with models like Pulse and Kardian.
