The Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra) Authorized Suzano’s Pulp And Paper Factory To Explore And Build A 231 Km Railway In Mato Grosso Do Sul, With Investments Of R$ 1.770 Billion
The Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra) authorized Suzano’s pulp and paper factory to construct and explore the railway between the municipalities of Inocência and Ribas do Rio Pardo, in the eastern region of Mato Grosso do Sul. The railway has an extension of 231 km, according to a publication by the Superintendence of Rail Transport (Sufer), of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), approximately 6 days ago. The technical note states that the authorization notice was published in this month’s Official Gazette of the Union (DOU). The article mentions that the operation of Suzano’s pulp and paper factory will extend for 99 years, and ANTT must evaluate the railway’s locational compatibility.

Suzano Also Promises To Build A Railway Branch In Mato Grosso Do Sul
The Ministry of Infrastructure’s (Minfra) authorization for the construction of the railway branch of Suzano’s pulp and paper factory, aimed at a “shortline” of 24.7 kilometers in the municipality of Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, will connect the Rumo Malha Oeste (RMO) bypass and the two pulp and paper production units.
Approximately R$ 170 million will be invested in the project. In the application request, the pulp and paper factory explained that it will begin in a parallel line to the current bypass in Três Lagoas, in a section to be adjusted for mixed gauge and will include a local extension to function as a waiting-entry yard with a length of 1,800 m. The branch itself will have a route parallel to BR-158, leading to the factories’ area.
Other Requests For Railways In Brazilian States
From October of last year to this year, six requests were made for the construction of sections in Mato Grosso do Sul that will receive a total investment of R$ 5.960 billion for the construction of 656.7 km of railways.
Suzano submitted three requests, of which two have been approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minfra). The company is now awaiting approval for the project of a railway from Aparecida do Taboado to Três Lagoas. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, in addition to Suzano’s requests, two others have already had the authorization contract signed.
