Multinational Lightsource Started Work on Solar Energy Parks in Ceará, Promising to Generate Hundreds of Jobs for the Local Population.
Lightsource BP, a multinational solar energy company present in 18 countries, announced the completion of all the preliminary studies for investing the financial resources for the Milagres Solar Complex, which will comprise 5 solar parks in the municipality of Abaiara, in the interior of Ceará. According to the company, the development of the parks began this month with a total investment of R$ 800 million, promising to generate 800 new jobs.
Banco do Brasil Will Finance R$ 423 Million of the Project
The construction of the transmission system for the project, which is already generating various jobs, began in December 2021, and the construction of the five solar energy parks of the multinational Lightsource BP started this month in the municipality of Abaiara, in the state of Ceará, with an investment of R$ 800 million.
Banco do Brasil, through the Northeast Development Fund (FDNE), managed by the Superintendency for Northeast Development (Sudene), will be responsible for financing R$ 423 million, while the remaining resources needed for the installation of the solar energy projects in Ceará will be directly invested by Lightsource BP.

Multinational Solar Energy Parks Will Begin Operations in 2024
The parks will begin commercial operations at the start of 2024 and will have a capacity to generate 460 MWh per year, enough energy to supply around 212,000 homes.
During the construction of the multinational Lightsource project, 800 jobs will be created, with priority given to local labor from the municipality in Ceará. According to the company, a large part of the solar energy was sold in the free contracting environment in contracts closed with financially strong companies.
According to the company’s Country Manager, Ricardo Barros, these contracts reinforce Brazil’s importance in the multinational’s strategy. The company’s aim is to sell the energy generated from its solar energy projects in the most profitable way possible, creating good business and partnerships that add value to the company, clients, and shareholders.
Construction Being Carried Out by Motrice
The construction of the solar energy complex by multinational Lightsource BP has already begun and is being carried out by Motrice, a national company specialized in solutions for the development of generation, distribution, and transmission systems of renewable energy.
The multinational has already conducted a global procurement process for selecting equipment suppliers, choosing companies such as Huawei, Canadian Solar, and Nextracker for modules, inverter structures, and trackers respectively.
