Norwegian Multinational Golar Power Is in the Final Stage for Installing the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal in SC
The Norwegian multinational Golar Power submitted the necessary documentation on Friday to obtain the Installation Environmental License for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal from the Santa Catarina Environment Institute (IMA). The terminal will be installed in Babitonga Bay, in the municipality of São Francisco do Sul (SC).

SC Will Have 25 Years Ahead with Golar Power
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal will be fully operated by Golar Power and will provide a FSRU for 25 years to supply the project. The SC liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal is expected to enter commercial operation in mid-2022 and is located at a strategic entry point in Southern Brazil, which will be used as a hub to enable the distribution of LNG and supply of natural gas for electricity generation, commercial and industrial customers, transportation, and supply well before the energy project begins. The selection of the FSRU and detailing of the terminal are underway with a FID expected in 2021.
Investment from Golar Power
To make the creation of Golar Power’s new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Santa Catarina – SC possible, over 100 million dollars will be invested, equivalent to R$ 541.752,25 million.

With this invested amount and after the works begin, part of the gas supply capacity from Gasbol will be used for distribution, and another part will be distributed through isocontainers on a small scale, in addition to the supply planned for the thermoelectric plant.
