Golar Power also stated that the imported LNG will be allocated to the supply of free gas consumers, such as large companies, and to the state natural gas distributor in Bahia, as well as for thermoelectric projects and other gas distributors connected to the gas pipeline network at the Port of Suape terminal.
The company has been actively participating in investments in the country, primarily in the North and Northeast regions.
In March, the Government of Pernambuco and Golar Power Brazil signed a letter of intent for new private investments at the Port of Suape. The initiative involves 1.8 billion reais to build an LNG distribution terminal, with the prospect of generating 300 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
In addition, Golar Power is already conducting operations at the Port of Sergipe, has a UTE contracted in Pará, as well as a small-scale project for LNG disembarkation through cabotage in Maranhão and studies to distribute LNG without pipelines and explore new sources of biomethane in Brazil.
