Since October, when cruises were released by the Federal Government, the company that leases the maritime passenger terminal, Pier Mauá, together with Companhia Docas do Rio de Janeiro (CDRJ), the Port Authority responsible for managing the Port of Rio de Janeiro, and other internal and external partners provided the necessary structure and measures to comply with the strict protocols established by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).

The security procedures determined by Anvisa include: presentation, before boarding, of the complete vaccination certificate against COVID-19 and the negative test (RT-PCR done up to 72 hours or antigen test done up to 24 hours before); maximum capacity limited to 75% of passenger capacity; sanitization of vessels; spacing on board of 1,5 meters between different groups; separation of booths for isolation of suspected cases; prior approval of the protocols of each ship by Anvisa; daily notification of the health situation on board by the vessel; among other preventive actions.

Rio de Janeiro is the state with the largest number of destinations for cruise travelers. In addition to the capital, Búzios, Angra dos Reis, Ilha Grande and Cabo Frio also receive passengers.

MSC Preziosa, Costa Fascinosa, Ocean Explorer, Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Silhouette, MS Seven Seas Voyager are some of the ocean liners that will dock at the Port of Rio de Janeiro this season.
