Nestlé Invests R$ 300 Million and Transforms KitKat Factory in Brazil into the Largest in the World by Production Capacity, Consolidating the Country as a Leader in Global Production of the Iconic Chocolate.
Nestlé announced a significant advance for KitKat production in Brazil. The factory located in Caçapava, in the interior of São Paulo, now has a fourth production line, making this unit the largest in the world by production capacity of the famous wafer bars covered with chocolate.
With an investment of R$ 300 million, the expansion strengthens Brazil’s position as one of the largest producers of the brand’s chocolates in the world.
The official inauguration of the new production line took place on Monday, in a ceremony attended by the president of Nestlé Brazil, Marcelo Melchior, and the vice president and Minister of Development, Geraldo Alckmin, who was acting as president in office.

The event highlighted Brazil’s strategic importance to Nestlé, especially regarding KitKat production, which supplies not only the Brazilian market but also 18 other countries in the Americas.
Brazil on Its Way to Becoming the Largest Worldwide Producer of KitKat

The Caçapava factory, which was already the largest in the Americas in terms of KitKat production, is now poised to reach a new milestone. With the new line operating at full capacity, Brazil could surpass England, the birthplace of KitKat, as the largest global producer of this iconic chocolate.
The chocolate, which was created 89 years ago, has its origins in the United Kingdom, which still holds the title of largest global manufacturer. However, the rapid growth of the Brazilian plant is changing this scenario.
The Caçapava factory is also responsible for producing various other Nestlé brands, and starting in 2024, it is expected to surpass another company factory located in Brazil, Garoto in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, becoming the largest chocolate manufacturing unit of Nestlé in the world.
Investment and Innovation Looking to the Future
The expansion of the Caçapava plant is part of a broader investment plan by Nestlé in Brazil. By 2026, the company plans to invest a total of R$ 1.1 billion in this unit alone, with the goal of modernizing it further and increasing its production capacity.
This amount is part of a larger investment package of R$ 8.5 billion for the period from 2023 to 2026, which also includes the expansion of Nestlé’s animal feed division, Purina, with an investment of R$ 2.5 billion.
In addition to increasing production capacity, Nestlé is committed to promoting sustainability in its operations. The company aims to promote regenerative agriculture, optimize the use of natural resources such as water and energy, and design more sustainable packaging to reduce waste.
These actions are part of a strategic plan focused on innovation and efficiency, which also includes the use of 5G technology and the development of Industry 4.0 solutions in collaboration with startups and universities.
With these investments, Nestlé reinforces its commitment to Brazil, consolidating the country as one of its main centers for production and innovation, both in the chocolate sector and in other areas of operation.
