Smart trash can TOWNEW automatically seals the bag, changes the refill by itself, and opens touch-free with a motion sensor.

For decades, the household trash can has changed very little. The process remained almost the same: manually open the lid, remove the full bag by hand, deal with bad smells, leaks, and direct contact with waste. Now, home automation companies have started to turn even trash into part of the smart home. One of the most aggressive solutions in this market is the TOWNEW T1S, a smart trash can that uses sensors, automatic sealing, and automatic bag replacement to reduce almost all manual contact with household waste.

The product stands out precisely because it tries to automate one of the most unpleasant tasks in the household routine.

Smart trash can automatically seals the bag without needing to touch the trash

The main feature of the TOWNEW T1S is the self-sealing system. When the trash can is full, the user can press a button for the equipment itself to close the bag automatically using thermal sealing technology.

According to the manufacturer, the mechanism uses integrated thermoplastic technology to seal the trash bag from inside the trash can, reducing contact with waste and helping to contain odors.

In practice, this eliminates one of the most annoying parts of household disposal: manually pulling out a full bag, often heavy, with the risk of leakage or tearing.

System automatically changes the bag after the trash is removed

The most attention-grabbing feature is the self-changing system, or automatic bag change. After the full bag is removed, the trash can itself pulls a new bag from the internal compartment and automatically positions it for the next use.

The product uses rings called Refill Rings, which store multiple compacted bags inside the trash can lid. According to Livinos, each ring contains approximately 25 bags.

This transforms the user experience. Instead of storing rolls of trash bags and manually changing them every time the trash can fills up, the system does almost everything by itself.

Motion sensor opens the lid without touch and reduces contact with dirt

TOWNEW also functions as a touchless trash can. The equipment has an infrared sensor capable of detecting proximity and automatically opening the lid without the need for physical contact.

According to specifications released by the brand, the sensor detects movement up to 35 cm away.

This type of automatic opening has gained popularity mainly in kitchens, bathrooms, and environments where people often have their hands full, wet, or dirty.

System detects excess trash and prevents leakage during replacement

Another important detail is the overload detection system. When the trash can identifies that the bag is too full, the top lid automatically rises to facilitate sealing the bag without spreading waste.

TOWNEW smart trash can automatically seals the bag, changes the refill by itself, and opens without touch with a motion sensor.

According to TOWNEW, the mechanism was created precisely to avoid leaks and spills during trash removal.

In practice, the trash can tries to solve a common problem: bags that are too full, difficult to remove, and prone to tearing.

Rechargeable battery allows wireless operation for up to 50 days

The TOWNEW T1S also works without constant connection to the outlet. The product uses an integrated rechargeable battery to operate sensors, motorized lid, and automatic sealing system.

According to specifications released in stores and manuals, the autonomy can reach about 50 to 60 days, depending on the frequency of use. The reported recharge time varies between approximately 5 and 6 hours.

This allows the trash can to be installed in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, or offices without relying on a permanent power cable.

Technology tries to reduce bad odor and direct contact with waste

A large part of the product’s proposal revolves around hygiene. By automating opening, sealing, and bag replacement, the trash can reduces direct contact with household waste and also limits exposure to the odor of accumulated trash.

Architectural Digest highlighted precisely this “mess-free” user experience, noting that the system practically eliminates the need to touch the trash during daily disposal.

This type of automation has become especially attractive in small spaces, compact apartments, and homes seeking smart home solutions.

Model has a capacity of 15.5 liters and focuses on indoor environments

According to specifications published by the manufacturer and retailers, the TOWNEW T1S has a capacity of 15.5 liters.

The size makes the product more suitable for use in a bathroom, office, bedroom, or compact kitchen than as the main trash can for large families.

Architectural Digest highlighted this point, stating that the model works better in smaller environments than in very busy kitchens.

Smart trash can shows how even trash has become part of the connected home

The advancement of home automation started with lighting, TVs, locks, and robotic vacuums. Now, extremely common products are also entering this transformation.

TOWNEW is not just trying to reinvent the trash can. It is trying to automate a household task that practically no one likes to do: dealing directly with trash.

The result is a product that combines sensors, motors, battery, thermal sealing, and automation to transform a simple trash bin into a smart device.

Product is still niche, but shows where home automation is heading

The TOWNEW T1S is not an essential item for every home. The international price itself places the product in a premium category of home automation.

Even so, the concept draws attention because it shows a clear trend: repetitive, dirty, and uncomfortable tasks are beginning to be automated one by one within the household routine.

After robotic vacuums and smart dishwashers, now even the trash can has started to learn to work on its own.
