The Large SUV Market Is Growing Every Year, and Automakers Are Innovating the Type of Vehicle Offered to Consumers, Who Seek More Technology, Combined with Comfort and Safety
While most automakers have adopted the efficient diesel and a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine for their seven-seaters, Nissan has defied the trend with its latest Pathfinder, keeping a powerful but relatively thirsty V6.
Price of Nissan’s Large SUVs
The Pathfinder starts at around US $ 59,000 for the base ST model, while the new top-end Ti-L model we tested starts at around US $ 87,000. This is more than what major competitors like Toyota, Mazda, and Hyundai charge. Unlike the cheaper models, the Ti-L features a fully digital cockpit as well as a head-up display. There are heated and ventilated front seats with leather trim, a power tailgate, a large sunroof, and a rearview mirror that works as a camera, allowing you to see the road behind you even when your view is blocked by pedestrians and luggage from the large SUVs.
The new technological features of the large SUVs include Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless phone charging, satellite navigation, digital radio, and a Bose sound system with 13 speakers. You can choose the Pathfinder with either seven or eight seats. It is backed by a five-year warranty, and a five-year maintenance plan costs $ 2,581 over five years. However, the sixth scheduled service costs US $ 1,625.

How Large SUVs React to Comfort
The new Pathfinder is larger and wider than its predecessor among large SUVs, meaning more space for shoulders, knees, and feet in the second and third rows. There are two memory settings for the driver’s seat, which also include individual positioning for the steering wheel and mirrors. On long trips, the seats are comfortable and supportive. Nissan also does not skimp on the comfort of passengers in the second and third rows. The two individual “captain’s chairs” in the second row are heated and can slide and recline. There are also individual air conditioning controls, USB ports, and shades.
Access to the third row is easy: just press a button on the backrest, and the second row reclines and slides forward, leaving a suitable opening for access to the rear seats, which have their own air vents and USB ports. For children to squabble. Remarkably, there is space for three in the back seat, although it is a comfortable ride. By sliding the middle row forward, enough legroom can be created for teenagers and smaller adults in the rear seats.
Safety of Nissan’s Large SUVs
The Pathfinder has been independently tested and received a five-star rating in the large SUV sector, although its occupant protection rating of 86% is not excellent. It has nine airbags, including a central airbag to prevent the passenger and driver from hitting their heads in a T-bone accident. The driver assistance technology includes all the usual features: lane keeping, blind spot alert, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and radar cruise control. The Pathfinder will prevent you from entering oncoming traffic’s path and will remind you if someone is still in the back seat when you exit. It also has trailer sway control for towing.
