Technology Allows 65% Savings in Corrosion Prevention of Structures and Promises to Revolutionize Mining, Chemical, Pulp, Naval, Power Plant, Energy, Infrastructure Industries and Wherever Steel Exists!
The modern process used in passivation service (an electrochemical protection system of films over metallic surfaces) creates a kind of protective web of electrons that nullifies the corrosion of steel structures in place of costly traditional methods of blasting, mechanical treatment, and painting. In addition to the financial advantage, there are no environmental or accident risks.

Expenditure on corrosion control can be reduced by about 65% thanks to the Anodo Passivar technology. Developed for any sector of the economy that involves steel in its projects, units, and facilities, the technique used in the passivation service – as the protection of surfaces in maintaining steel structures is called – is capable of halting the continuous process of structural degradation at a much lower cost than the traditional method, which consists of blasting to remove residues – or mechanical treatment (St3) – and the incessant painting.
Technology Shields Steel from the Destructive Action of Corrosion

The technology offers portable equipment, easy to transport and powered by electricity, which emits electrical micropulses to create a protective film of electrons that shields steel from the destructive action of corrosion. The solution is modular, allowing for the protection of any necessary footage, and can be monitored remotely.

“The device can be in Norway and be observed in our control room to check if it is operational or not. When used correctly, it can last from five to 10 years, without the need for shutdown or maintenance,” explains Francisco Muller, Operations Director of Passivar, which has been operating in the segment for 42 years and is responsible for developing the new technology.
The commercial model of the Anodo Passivar solution is through a leasing service with contracts ranging from 36 to 60 months and SLA (Service Level Agreement) for the implementation cost project, service, and replacement.
Service Is Highly Effective in Mining, Chemical, Pulp, Naval, Power Plant, Energy, Infrastructure Industries and Wherever Steel Exists!
The passivation service meets all sectors where steel exists and, inevitably, corrosion occurs. The results are the same in mining companies, chemical industry, thermoelectric plants, energy transmission, base infrastructure, plastics, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, pulp, wind towers, and the naval industry. Among the clients of Passivar with operational equipment are Petrobras, Suzano, Anglo American, and Qualy Rações.

The return on investment of the Anodo Passivar solution lies in the reduction of conventional maintenance costs – such as hiring staff and scaffolders, logistics, and purchasing materials (PPEs, inputs, paints, industrial water, and scaffold rental, for example) – and with risks of accidents involving personnel. In environmental aspects, there is also a reduction in maintenance waste and risks related to legislation and oversight.
In the conventional process, the costs and hours of work invested are incessant. “A painting of this size in a large installation can take an entire year. And when it’s finished, it’s time to start all over again. It’s an endless cycle of steel and corrosion,” comments Passivar’s director and production engineer Antônio Junior, based in the Campos Basin (RJ).
