Opel Announced It Will Start Selling the New Electric Astra in Europe as Early as the First Half of 2023
The GM subsidiary in Europe, Opel, announced the launch of a version of the iconic 100% Electric Astra. The model comes with 156 horsepower and 28 kgfm of torque and has a battery capacity of 54 kWh, providing a range of 416 kilometers.
Who doesn’t remember the famous Astra, imported from Belgium between 1994 and 1996? The first version of the model arrived in Brazil and was sold by Chevrolet. After waiting another year, vehicle production began on national soil and was manufactured until 2011.
Unlike the new 100% Electric Astra, it was powered by a 2.0 flex-fuel engine capable of producing up to 140 horsepower when fueled with ethanol. The Astra is still in production, but in a slightly more updated generation, in Europe. There, the car is available in hatch, sedan, and station wagon styles.

In Germany, the vehicle is known as the Opel Astra. Opel is one of GM’s representatives in some parts of Europe, while in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, it is known as the Vauxhall Astra.
A fully electric version of the Astra is the most advanced innovation available. This version is also, at first, exclusive to the European market, and its launch is scheduled for the end of the first half of 2023. The automaker has not disclosed whether it intends to sell the electric Astra in Brazil.
The exterior appearance of the new electric Astra has not changed much. The most noticeable alteration was made to the front grille, which now has less prominent air vents. Inside, it features integrated panels measuring 10 inches, one serving as an instrument panel while the other functions as a multimedia center.
New Electric Astra Comes Equipped with Advanced Technology and Additional Safety Measures Onboard

The motor of the new electric Astra has 156 horsepower and 28 kgfm of torque, which represents a significant advancement compared to the previous version that was sold in Brazil. The maximum speed is 170 kilometers per hour.
The driver has the option to choose between three different driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. The battery of the new electric Astra has a capacity of 54 kWh, which is sufficient for a range of 416 kilometers.
