The São Paulo Metro Launched the Bid for the Contracting of the Works of Line 19-Celeste, Connecting Guarulhos to the Capital with 15 Stations, 31 Trains and Capacity to Serve up to 630 Thousand Passengers per Day, Significantly Expanding Urban Mobility in the Metropolitan Area.

The Metro has taken another important step towards expanding public transportation in São Paulo. This Monday (24), the bidding notice for contractingr the works of the new Line 19-Celeste. The line will connect Guarulhos to the central region of the Capital.

Connection Between Bosque Maia and Anhangabaú

The new line will have a length of 17.6 km and 15 stations. It will start at Bosque Maia in Guarulhos and end at Anhangabaú in downtown São Paulo. The contract includes the executive project and the construction of civil works, including the maintenance yard.

In addition to the stations, 18 ventilation and emergency shafts will be constructed. The São Bento (Line 1-Blue) and Anhangabaú (Line 3-Red) stations will also be adapted to receive the new connection.

Start of Construction Expected for 2026

The Metro’s goal is to sign the contracts and start the executive projects this year. With this, civil works are expected to begin in 2026. The completion forecast is up to 75 months after construction begins.

The future line will operate with 31 trains and have the capacity to transport 630 thousand passengers per day. The estimate is that the journey between Guarulhos and downtown São Paulo will be reduced by up to one hour.

Connections with Other Lines

Line 19-Celeste will allow integration with three other Metro lines: 1-Blue, 2-Green and 3-Red. There is also the possibility of future connections with train lines.

The planned stations are: Bosque Maia, Guarulhos-Centro, Vila Augusta, Dutra, Itapegica, Jardim Julieta, Vila Sabrina, Cerejeiras, Santo Eduardo, Vila Maria, Catumbi, Silva Teles, Cerealista, São Bento and Anhangabaú.
