Petrobras’ Platform Ship Will Start Operating in 2024 and Generate Over 2000 Jobs for Various Positions and Education Levels. Hiring Is Expected to Start at the End of 2023.
According to Durval Vieira de Freitas, CEO of DVF Consulting, the start of operations of Petrobras’ FPSO Maria Quitéria will boost the Espírito Santo economy and generate over 2000 job openings for various positions and education levels. The forecast is that the platform ship will begin production in the fourth quarter of 2024, but hiring is expected to start at the end of 2023.
It is worth noting that in February, the Brazilian oil giant signed a contract with the Yinson Production PTE group for the chartering and provision of services for the platform, which will be designated for the Integrated Project Parque das Baleias, to be installed in the Jubarte Field, located in the northern Campos Basin.
According to Freitas, of the jobs that will be created, 200 will be direct hires by the multinational and 2,000 will be indirect jobs offered in the supply chain of the sector.

The project also includes the interconnection of 17 wells to the ship, consisting of nine oil producers and eight water injectors.
About 2200 Positions for Elementary, High School, Technical, and Higher Education Will Be Created for the Operation of Petrobras’ FPSO Maria Quitéria.

“This investment is extremely important for the State, as oil, which once accounted for 20% of our GDP (Gross Domestic Product), now accounts for around 10% to 12%. This helps with municipal management, as it involves royalty collection and special participation,” said Durval.
The advisor of the Capixaba Center for Metal-Mechanical Development (CDMEC), Fausto Frizzera, also spoke about the investment. “In oil, there has been a significant distancing of most Espírito Santo companies. We are trying to bridge this gap, so this investment is very important,” he said.
