Positive results are reported in Curitiba by Ford Slaviero as a result of the company's restructuring.

In 2022, Ford's operations in South America once again turned a profit. After temporarily halting production in Brazil in the third quarter of 2021, the company started to have a positive EBIT result, with the accumulated result from January to September at around US$ 300 million. The company had been registering annual losses since 2013, but the regional reorganization helped to turn around and close the year in blue.

The Ranger pickup is still made in General Pacheco, Argentina, with a good deal of content from Brazilian suppliers, and the Transit utility vehicle is still made at the Nordex factory in Uruguay; both movements are part of the readjustment of the company's operation in South America, which included a leaner portfolio that directed the company towards the best performing segments in the region.

To apply for releases with the parent company, we have to show that we are stable, and we are doing that in South America. Ford President Daniel Justo is proud of the company's five consecutive quarters of profit and a portfolio "centered on pickup trucks, SUVs, commercial cars and classics like the Mustang".

The 110 dealerships in Brazil are located in key locations to reach the brand's target audience. One of the most consolidated and reliable brands in the industry, with a long history in the Curitiba market, Ford Slaviero also benefited from the change. Ford Motor Company reduced the number of distributors, in addition to reducing the product mix, which led to better revenue per point of sale than in 2021.

The sales, parts and service departments of car dealerships Curitiba and Brasilia saw a significant increase in activity. The CEO of Ford Slaviero, Lus Antônio Sebben, says that the company is “more agile, leaner and with billing and profitability criteria above the national average of the distribution sector”.

The commercial vehicle market is one area where 2022 looks promising. Seven months after its launch, Van Transit has accumulated a 12% share of the passenger market and has seen peaks of up to 17%. “The Ford model was the second fastest growing in the van market, which is on the rise, especially with changes in consumer buying habits and e-commerce, which skyrocketed by around 70% in Brazil in 2020, and advanced another 30% in 2021”, Sebben emphasizes.

In 2023, Ford will introduce new Transit variants with automated transmission and electric powertrain, which will be eagerly awaited by the market because none of the rival vehicles now offer these features. Ford CEO Slaviero says the electric model appeals to customers concerned about environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

Slaviero has a larger market share in Curitiba and Brasília than in the rest of Brazil due to the popularity of the Transit public transport system.

News about new Ford models

The new ones mustang models and Ford pickup will arrive in Brazil in 2023. Along with Transit, we will launch the Mustang Mach-E, an electric car that has proved so popular abroad that it is already generating a waiting list of eager American buyers. The Territory SUV has been updated and its excellent technological package impresses. There's also a hybrid version of the Maverick, which was voted the best pickup truck of 2022. This is the F-150, the most famous pickup truck in the world, and it's finally here. Sebben writes, “Ford Slaviero is looking forward to a year of sales growth of 18%.”
