To Fill Up Gasoline Tanks in SP, Residents Spend an Average of R$ 320.40, Says Ticket Log

Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) Indicates That SP Consumers Spend Almost R$ 400.00 to Fuel Their Vehicles

According to data from the Ticket Log Price Index – IPTL, referring to the period from February 18 to 24, 2022, it indicated that during this carnival season – although many Brazilian states, including SP, postponed carnival once again due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the flu outbreak – people from São Paulo would pay, on average, R$ 320.40 to fill their vehicles’ tanks with gasoline, and around R$ 229.10 to do so with ethanol. Given that there were no significant reductions in vehicle refueling during the estimated period by Ticket Log, as of today, February 28, the last day of the month, the prices remain the same in Greater SP, so it is possible that the price will rise once again.

Ticket Log Data Show Real-Time Fuel Prices During Carnival Period

The Ticket Log survey took into account several factors, such as the average price at which SP gas stations were selling a liter of gasoline, which was R$ 6.408, being 6.6% cheaper compared to the national average for the fuel, which closed the period at R$ 6.830.

The ethanol in capital SP closed the period at R$ 4.582, considered the lowest average compared to the main capitals in Brazil and about 17.4% less than the national average, which ended the month at R$ 5.545.

According to the Head of Urban Market at Edenred Brazil, Douglas Pina, all these detailed data and values serve to better understand how much the consumer will spend just to fill the tank of their vehicles.

According to Pina, consumers paid, on average, R$ 320.40 for just 50 liters of gasoline. If the same vehicle’s tank was filled with ethanol, an amount of approximately R$ 229.10 was spent. All the detailed data is in the Ticket Log survey.
