The Installation Request From Petrobras Was Made to Ibama At The Beginning of October, But So Far There Has Been No Response From The Agency

Petrobras Plans To Install An 80-Meter Wind Turbine On The Potiguar Coast That Will Be Used To Supply Energy To The Company’s Platform In The Municipality Of Guamaré-RN. See Also That Petrobras Is Selling Two More Onshore Production Exploration Blocks.

The Estimate Is That The Installation Will Require One Year For Permits, Three To Eight Months For Assembly, And An Investment Forecast For Petrobras That Could Reach 20 Million Euros, In Addition To The High Additional Maintenance Costs At Sea.

“In Terms Of Cost, Yes, It Is Higher, But The Production Capacity Is Also Greater, Because There Are Fewer Limiters. At Sea, A Turbine Can Have A Capacity Of 10 MW, While, On Average, On Land, A Turbine Produces 4 MW,” Commented Sérgio Godinho, Director Of Veritas Engenharia, Responsible For The Environmental Studies Related To The Installation Of The Wind Turbine.

The Equipment Will Be Built By Petrobras On A Platform In The Ubarana 3 Field, The PUB-3, And Would Increase The Energy Production Potential Of RN. The Offshore Wind Potential Identified On The Potiguar And Ceará Coasts Is Approximately 140 GW And Is Equivalent To More Than 10 Times The National Capacity.

Brazil Still Lacks A Regulatory Framework That Defines The Rules For The Production, Purchase, And Sale Of Offshore Wind Energy. According To The Center For Strategies In Natural Resources And Energy (Cerne), A Proposal Is Still Under Analysis And Discussion But Has Not Yet Been Consolidated.
