Initiative brings together education, reading, and social inclusion by taking children from rural communities of Catu to the Bahia Book Biennial, with meetings with authors and access to books
In addition, PetroReconcavo confirmed that it will take 100 children from the Ciranda Viva project to the Bahia Book Biennial, which takes place between April 15 and 21, at the Salvador Convention Center.
Thus, the visit is scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, April 16, according to information released by the company itself.
Action connects reading, culture, and social inclusion
Moreover, the initiative will allow children to circulate among the publishers’ booths.

The largest South American oil company, Petrobras, is preparing for a historic leap in production with new FPSO platforms and the expansion of refining — projects that could add up to 900,000 barrels per day and strengthen Brazil’s energy security.
At the same time, they will have the opportunity to acquire books and, above all, participate in meetings with authors present at the event.
According to PetroReconcavo, for most participants, this will be their first experience at a Book Biennial, which enhances the educational impact of the action.
Ciranda Viva Project serves rural communities
On the other hand, the beneficiaries are part of the Ciranda Viva project, aimed at children residing in rural communities of Catu, in the metropolitan region of Salvador.
In this context, the company maintains ongoing actions to promote education in the municipality.
Additionally, the project works on the educational and social support for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations.
Still, the initiative provides support for formal education.
At the same time, it promotes sports and cultural activities that value local identity.
According to AVSI Brazil (Association of Volunteers for International Service Brazil), responsible for the project’s development, the goal is to strengthen the integral development of young people.
Company reinforces the role of reading in social transformation
In this sense, the director of ESG, Communication, and Investor Relations, Marília Nogueira, highlighted the importance of the action.
According to her, the company believes in the power of reading as a tool for social transformation.
Moreover, she stated that education, culture, and development go hand in hand, which justifies the support for the Biennial.
Donation of books and support for public schools
In addition to this action, PetroReconcavo also promotes, in partnership with the Biennial, the donation of books and the maintenance of the library of the municipal school Eudes José Argolo Guimarães.
The space is located in the municipality of Pojuca, where the company also operates with social projects.
In this way, the initiative expands access to reading and strengthens the local educational environment.
Job creation and appreciation of local labor
On the other hand, the company also stands out for job creation.
Currently, there are more than 20 thousand direct, indirect, and induced jobs, according to institutional data.
Furthermore, more than 90% of the employees are from the Northeast, following the company’s regional appreciation policy.
Social investments grow and expand impact
According to data released in the second half of 2025, PetroReconcavo’s social investments have grown significantly.
Between 2023 and 2024, there was a 60% increase in the number of people reached.
In total, more than 17 thousand people were benefited in 67 communities, spread across 17 municipalities in Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte.
Educational results reflect the impact of the projects
Moreover, the educational results are already noticeable.
According to data from the Ministry of Education, released in March 2025, the municipalities of Mata de São João and Pojuca led the Literacy Index (ICA) in the metropolitan region of Salvador.
In this scenario, Mata de São João achieved 77% child literacy, while Pojuca recorded 69%.
These results are associated with the project Educar PRaValer, which provides assistance to public schools in organizing education.
In light of this scenario, initiatives like this reinforce the role of education and reading in social transformation — and raise an important question: to what extent can corporate educational projects accelerate the development of local communities?
