Receiving an award is an honor for a company. However, being in first place amid a crisis and so many competitors requires impeccable work. Over the past few years, the Mucuripe Port has undergone various changes. However, most of them, in conjunction with administrative management, promoted an optimization regarding its productivity. Another factor that may have contributed to this award was its transfer to private initiative through a public auction.
Companhia Docas do Ceará will register up to the end of the year a cargo movement of 1.2 million tons of wheat. With this figure, the port, located in Fortaleza, will remain on the podium of ports at the national level. At the Ports+Brazil event, the awards were received by the company’s president, Mayhara Chaves. At the awards, Ports of Paraná took 1st place in the Port Authority Management category.

Cargo Movement at the Mucuripe Port
The port sector was greatly impacted by the pandemic. For this reason, when comparing the figures from 2019 to 2020, the results are very positive. Taking the cargo movement of this port as an example, we can see that promising results were achieved. To secure 1st place at the Ports+Brazil awards, Companhia Docas do Ceará achieved a 12.5% increase in 2020 compared to the same period in 2019.
Thus, the cargo movement totaled 4.9 million tons. Of which, 2.3 million tons were of solid bulk. These numbers were what earned them first place. Regarding EBITDA margin variation, this achieved an excessive growth of 354%.

At the moment she received the awards, the President of CDC expressed her gratitude, “Being the first woman to step on this stage and for the second time is very gratifying to have our work recognized. I would like to ask Director Mário Jorge, representing all the company’s employees, to stand up. It’s been 38 years of dedication and that’s what we need. A special thank you to the public port operators, because without them we wouldn’t have this result.”
