Public-Private Partnership Will Enable the Infrastructure Works Necessary for the Dry Port to Become a Logistics Hub in the Coming Years
The state of Mato Grosso do Sul will now have another logistics hub focused on foreign trade, the Ponta Porã Dry Port, which will undergo a series of infrastructure works throughout the year. The bidding for the works is expected to take place this first semester of 2022, and the project will involve a total investment of R$ 20 million to ensure the complex has adequate infrastructure for the operations.
The project is a partnership between the State Government, the Federal Revenue of Brazil, and the Municipal Government of Ponta Porã, aimed at expanding the presence of the dry port in the state. Moreover, the initiative will be made possible through a Public-Private Partnership, as the concession of the Ponta Porã Dry Port will occur through a bidding process for private companies in the logistics sector. Only then will the site be able to undergo all the necessary works to become a logistics hub focused on foreign trade.

A R$ 300 million logistics giant is taking shape in Serra with over 100,000 m² and raises a question: how can this transform e-commerce and distribution in the state?
The main goal of the investment plan for the creation of a logistics hub at the Ponta Porã Dry Port is to enable even more efficient foreign trade. Bidding for the Port in Ponta Porã Is Scheduled for June This Year, and the Investment of R$ 20 Million Will Enable Even More Efficient and Faster Works
The Municipal Secretary of Regional Development, Industry, Commerce, and Tourism of Ponta Porã, Caio Augusto, commented on the timelines for the bidding process for the Ponta Porã Dry Port works and stated that they are scheduled for June this year. The executive also emphasized that “Following the technical feasibility study conducted by the Federal Revenue of Brazil, which addressed the estimated demand and provided socioeconomic information about the municipality and region, sizing the physical space and calculating the project’s budget, the installation of the Dry Port is in its final implementation phase and will position Ponta Porã as one of the most important logistics hubs in the region, transforming the economic and social dynamics of the municipality.”
Furthermore, it was also highlighted that the creation of a logistics hub at the Ponta Porã Dry Port will bring even more efficiency to operations, given that the region of the Federal District, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, and Mato Grosso has only four dry ports located in Brasília-DF, Corumbá-MS, Anápolis-GO, and Cuiabá-MT.
Thus, with the completion of the infrastructure works for the creation of the logistics hub at the Ponta Porã Dry Port, the site can increase its service capacity by up to 10 times, potentially reaching 400 services per day or something between 10 to 12 thousand services per month.
