The gasoline experiences another adjustment this year, this time by 5%, which corresponds to an average increase of ten cents, reaching 2.08 reais per liter at the refinery. Thus, the fuel accumulates a rise of 13.4% in 2021. Meanwhile, diesel experiences its first increase in 2021, an adjustment of 4.4%, equivalent to nine cents, totaling 2.12 reais per liter for distributors.
The valid prices are the average of those practiced in the 37 Petrobras refineries spread across the Southeast, North, Northeast, and Central-West regions.

Petrobras emphasizes that the new prices refer to sales from refineries to distributors, which means they do not correspond to what the final consumer will pay. By the time it reaches the final buyer, there are added federal and state taxes, acquisition costs, and the mandatory mixing of biofuels as well as the gross margins of distributors and retail stations.
Petrobras Also Affirms That the Price of Gasoline and Diesel Are Below the World Average
“According to data from Global Petrol Prices, on 01/18/2021, the average consumer price of gasoline in Brazil was the 56th cheapest among 166 surveyed, being 17.8% below the average of 1.05 dollars per liter. Meanwhile, the average diesel price for consumers in Brazil was the 42nd cheapest among 165 surveyed, being 26.7% below the average of 0.95 cents per liter.”
