The Government of the state of ES in partnership with ABSOLAR are creating a solar energy project that will be able to triple the investments not only in the region, but throughout Brazil

The program that will be responsible for tripling investments in solar energy in ES is called Gerar Program, with full support from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSOLAR), the project can be a milestone in Brazilian distributed generation.

ES plans to take an even better position in the state ranking of solar energy

ES currently occupies the 16th position in the state ranking of photovoltaic energy in distributed generation, generating around 73,4 megawatts (MW) in installed power in the modality, totaling around 5,3 small-scale generation systems.

The idea is that, with the project, more investments in solar energy will be prospected for the region and, consequently, the position in the state ranking will change for the better. The state of ES has already received more than R$ 350 million in investments from entrepreneurs and consumers in Espírito Santo.

Distributed generation programs are being implemented in several states to attract investments

Recently, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Eduardo Braga, signed an ordinance creating the Program for the Development of Distributed Electric Energy Generation (ProGD) to stimulate the generation of photovoltaic energy from solar panels inside the consumer units, which can be shared with the energy distribution system. The government foresees a potential investment of BRL 100 billion in these technologies and that 2,7 million consumer units will be able to join the program by 2030.

— Brazil has quite significant solar potential. Our location is within the solar belt. The highest intensity occurs from September to November, in the dry period, when we have less hydro generation. There is quite significant complementarity,” said the MME's electricity secretary, Ildo Grudtner, highlighting the system's environmental advantages.
