Solar Power Plants Project by the Government of Piauí Confirmed by Aneel Promises to Generate Many New Jobs in the Region
With the responsibility and administration of the Government of Piauí, the municipality of Coivaras, located 77 km from Teresina, will receive eight mini solar power plants. The mini plants in the municipality will be part of the government’s Public-Private Partnership project. The installation of the solar power mini plants, confirmed by Aneel, promises to generate jobs for up to 16% of the nearby community, both directly and indirectly.

In the municipality, the generation of new jobs can change the current situation amid the crisis. According to the Superintendent of Partnerships and Concessions, Viviane Moura, it is estimated that 50 jobs will be generated directly, and another 600 jobs indirectly during the construction of the solar power mini plants confirmed by Aneel.
Given the need for skilled labor training, the construction will provide good opportunities for the community. The solar power mini plant in Coivaras, for example, will serve the State Health Department. The remaining energy generated will be credited to the Government of the State of Piauí with Equatorial Energia, generating savings for public coffers.

The project takes into account the energy self-sufficiency of the northern region of the state and sustainability. In total, there will be eight mini solar power plants in strategic locations under the responsibility of the Government of Piauí, which promise to create jobs and income in the interior. The project by the Government of Piauí, confirmed by Aneel in the municipality, will have a capacity of 5 megawatts (MW), which will be more than sufficient to meet the needs of the Sesapi.
Piauí, One of the Leaders in Renewable Energy
When it comes to clean energy, the Government of Piauí has invested to make the state one of the largest in Brazil, and it has succeeded! The state is one of the leaders, particularly in solar and wind power plants.
According to Aneel, this year Piauí will account for the highest percentage among all Brazilian states, with an expansion of about 190.35 MW in its energy matrix.
