In Addition to the Diesel Production Record, Petrobras’ Refinery Also Had Significant Numbers for LPG (Cooking Gas) and Low-Sulfur Bunker

Petrobras announced in a relevant fact this morning (01/14) that its Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap) closed 2020 with an annual production record of Diesel S-10, reaching a total of 2,142,717 m³, a volume 65% above the 1,297,454 m³ produced in the previous record, in 2018. Despite the global crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and considering Petrobras’ ten best monthly brands, all occurred last year, with a highlight in August, with 203.5 thousand m³.

“The record production of Diesel S-10, which has a lower sulfur content, accompanies the evolution of heavy-duty and utility vehicle engines fueled by diesel, responsible for the majority of cargo circulation in the national territory.” said the state-owned company in the statement

Currently, there are two types of road diesel in Brazil: Diesel S-500 and Diesel S-10, but S-500 is only used by vehicles manufactured until 2011.

LPG (cooking gas) and low-sulfur Bunker were highlights in 2020 at the refinery Revap. Due to higher demand, a total of approximately 1 million m³ of LPG was produced last year, a volume 26% higher than the 794 thousand m³ reached in 2019.

As for the Bunker, a fuel oil used in ship engines with a sulfur content of 0.5%, which began to be produced at Revap in July 2019, reached a total of 749 thousand m³ in 2020.

The Largest Refinery of Petrobras, Replan, Ends 2020 with a Record of Processing Pre-Salt Oils

Petrobras reported in a relevant fact this morning (01/12) that its largest refinery, Replan (Paulínia Refinery), faced the oil crisis caused by the coronavirus and achieved a new record in December for processing pre-salt oils, reaching a total of 10,436,207 m³.

Among the pre-salt oils processed in November at Replan, the highlights are Búzios, Sapinhoá, Tupi, and Atapu oils. The production of oil from the pre-salt layer has significantly increased in recent years and contributed to reduced processing of imported light oils, as pre-salt oils are lighter than oils from post-salt fields.

According to Petrobras, in addition to the volumetric record of pre-salt oil, Replan also recorded in 2020 the highest percentage of these oils in relation to the fresh load processed, at 58.7%. In 2019, this index was 49.4% at the refinery.
