Dealerships Implement Support Services for Motorcyclists, Intensify Oversight, and Launch Educational Campaigns to Reduce Accidents
The highways of São Paulo are receiving new initiatives aimed at the safety of motorcyclists, one of the most vulnerable groups in traffic. Dealerships such as CCR ViaOeste, Ecovias, and Novo Litoral have implemented motorcycle support services and expanded educational campaigns to reduce accidents and provide faster assistance to users. Increased oversight and the installation of smart radars promise to enhance monitoring on the highways.
Support Services for Motorcyclists
The Novo Litoral dealership, responsible for managing the Mogi-Bertioga Highway, has introduced a new motorcycle support service to reduce response time to incidents. The goal is to ensure that rescuers arrive more quickly at accident sites, particularly in winding and hard-to-reach sections. This strategy was adopted after studies indicated that the average rescue time could be reduced by up to 40% with the use of motorcycles for first responses.
Meanwhile, Ecovias, the dealership that manages the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, has also adopted the use of motorcycles to improve emergency response. The service allows mechanics and inspection teams to quickly reach motorcyclists who are stranded or involved in minor accidents. According to the company, the introduction of this model has reduced the average arrival time at service locations by 30%.

Educational Campaigns and Awareness
CCR ViaOeste, in partnership with ARTESP (Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo) and the Highway Military Police (PMRv), has launched a series of campaigns to raise awareness among motorcyclists about traffic safety. The initiatives include:
- Impact Quiz: an interactive game with questions about traffic safety to encourage reflection among motorcyclists;
- Safety Reminder: distribution of informational tags hung on the handlebars of parked motorcycles, reinforcing awareness messages;
- Free Check-up: free inspection of essential motorcycle items, such as brakes, tires, lighting, and helmets, at inspection stations.
The actions are being carried out at strategic points along the highways of São Paulo and in high motorcycle traffic areas, such as gas stations and parking lots of logistics companies.
Intensified Monitoring and Oversight
In addition to the new support measures for motorcyclists, oversight on the highways of São Paulo is being intensified. The Traffic Engineering Company (CET) has implemented motorcycles equipped with smart cameras to monitor road signage and identify violations in real time. These vehicles operate on the main roads and highways of the metropolitan region of São Paulo, helping to ensure that signs, lanes, and safety notices are visible and properly positioned.
Oversight also includes 649 new radars installed on the main highways of the state, such as Anhanguera, Bandeirantes, and Castelo Branco. These devices are capable of identifying:
- Speeding;
- Using a cell phone while riding;
- Not wearing mandatory safety equipment;
- Dangerous overtaking.
According to Artesp, these measures have already resulted in a 12% reduction in accidents involving motorcyclists on São Paulo highways since their implementation.
