Schneider Electric Sustainable Recognition
And recently, the company was recognized as the most sustainable company in the world by Time magazine and Statista. Schneider Electric stands out in the market by offering innovative solutions in smart home energy management, helping homeowners, builders and electrical installers in this task.
New Energy Management Platform
The company's new platform is a milestone in the market, as it enables optimized energy management for two of the largest residential loads – water heaters and electric vehicle chargers – through the Wiser Home app. The solution not only enables the power monitoring but also control and optimization, offering automated load management and predictive consumption scheduling adapted to users' lifestyles.
Predictive Algorithm and Energy Savings
Using a predictive algorithm, AI learns from users’ habits and preferences, and uses real-time weather forecasts, tariff data, energy contract limits, and solar production capacity to optimize energy savings. This feature is especially interesting for residential energy management when managing two of the largest loads in the home.
Schneider Electric Proprietary Technology
Developed with proprietary technology From Schneider Electric, the solution keeps all user data internally, without transfers to third parties, ensuring information security. An important point to note is that buildings are responsible for 37% of global energy-related CO2 emissions, with homes contributing around 20% of this total. The complexity of residential energy management is growing, due to increased electrification and the use of technologies such as solar panels, electric vehicle chargers and heat pumps.
Simplifying the Energy Management Process
To simplify this complexity, Schneider Electric’s new solution is designed to help homeowners optimize energy consumption and reduce costs. Using its AI functionality, the system determines the most cost-effective times to power EV chargers or heat water, taking into account weather forecasts and dynamic tariffs. It also adjusts charging and heating based on residents’ daily needs, such as travel times or how often they shower, ensuring that the vehicle and hot water are ready when needed.
Flexibility and User Control
Homeowners have full control over how AI is applied in this solution. Energy consumption can be paused during vacations or adjusted to immediately start charging electric vehicles or heating water. The solution is especially beneficial for homes with solar panels, as the algorithm learns from solar energy production, using weather data to estimate energy availability and plan load usage accordingly.
Test Results and Expected Savings
In laboratory tests, homeowners with solar panels saw projected annual savings of between €400 and €500, while those without solar panels saw savings of between €100 and €150. These French-based figures were based on the use of electric vehicle chargers and water heaters connected to the grid and solar power. However, actual results may vary depending on the installation and energy provider.
Artificial Intelligence Optimization
“With rising energy costs and record-breaking temperatures, homeowners are looking for ways to better manage their energy consumption and reduce their bills,” said Michael Lotfy Gierges, Executive Vice President, Residential and Distribution, Schneider Electric. “At Schneider Electric, we are at the forefront of developing solutions that promote efficiency and electrification, all with the goal of building a more sustainable future. Our new AI tool is a clear example of this by simplifying energy management for consumers,” added Gierges.
New Feature Availability
The new feature is available to Wiser Home users in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Austria who own the Wiser Hub, Schneider Electric’s PowerTag energy sensors, an electric vehicle charger (EV Link Home Smart, Schneider Charge or EV Socket) and a Power Micro Module (water heater controller). The company will continue to invest in this technology and expand it as a premium application to make home energy use even more efficient.
