Sabesp Advanced Construction of the Capoavinha Reservoir in Mairiporã, Which Will Have 2 Million Liters, Replace the Old Structure of 100 Thousand Liters, and Ensure More Stable Supply for About 5 Thousand Connections.
Sabesp has completed a new phase of the Capoavinha reservoir project, which began in January and is expected to finish in May 2026, consolidating a significant increase in capacity for local supply. The construction aims to enhance the stability of the system and serve 5 thousand connections.
The new reservoir will replace the old structure of 100 thousand liters, expanding the available capacity by 20 times. The 2 million-liter reserve was defined to ensure an adequate volume for regional demand and reinforce the water security of the population served.
Base Pouring and Logistics Operation
The phase executed on Thursday, the 27th, involved pouring the base, using 190 m³ of concrete. The process required the coordinated operation of 38 concrete trucks, a requirement to ensure the structural integrity and waterproofing of the reservoir’s foundation.

Direct Impact on Neighborhood Water Supply
The project will regularize and expand the supply of drinking water with adequate pressure and flow. Residents of Capoavinha, Jardim Sandra, Jardim Celeste, Jardim Spada, Jardim Bariloche, Encosta da Cantareira, and Hortolândia will benefit, according to Sabesp.
Sabesp’s North Regional Director, Cesar Ridolpho, stated that the reservoir represents a commitment to the future of Mairiporã. He emphasized that the capacity of 2 million liters ensures robustness and operational security for about 5 thousand families in the region.
The construction will enhance quality of life and public health by providing an efficient and resilient system, ensuring peace of mind in daily supply and adherence to the planning initiated as early as the beginning of 2024, despite some natural construction delays.
