GTT Was Selected by HD KSOE to Design the Tanks of the Vessel, Which Will Be Built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Will Focus on Sustainability.
The French company Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) will design the tanks of a new LNG Carrier. The order was placed by Purus, a maritime service provider. The construction will be carried out by HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), through its subsidiary Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI).
GTT and HD KSOE Establish Partnership for Purus Ship
The French specialist GTT was contracted by HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE). The goal is to design the tank of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier. The vessel is being built for Purus, a maritime service company for gas transportation and offshore wind industries. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Technical Details of the New LNG Carrier
The construction of the ship will be carried out by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), a subsidiary of HD KSOE. GTT will be responsible for the design of the cryogenic tanks. The total storage capacity will be 180,000 cubic meters. This project reaffirms the technical capability of South Korean shipyards in building complex vessels.

Mark III Flex Containment System
The ship’s tanks will be equipped with specific technology. The Mark III Flex membrane containment system will be used. This system is a GTT property, consolidating the company as a leader in containment solutions for LNG.
Focus on Sustainability and Energy Efficiency with LNG Carrier
The new LNG carrier will have advanced dual-fuel propulsion. It will be optimized to use natural gas as the primary fuel. According to information released about the order, this configuration will provide a significant 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.
GTT and Hyundai Strengthen Ties
This contract strengthens the relationship between GTT and the Hyundai group. GTT also collaborates with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), a sister company of HSHI. The two companies are working on two new joint development projects. The goal is to enhance the integration of the membrane tank on ships and improve both onboard ergonomics and the operational performance of the vessels.
