Persistent cold, constant rain, and low maximum temperature transform Tuesday in Curitiba into an unusual autumn portrait, with limited temperature throughout the day and a thermal sensation closer to winter even outside the typical season.

Curitiba is expected to have a Tuesday of persistent cold, overcast sky, and rain throughout the day, with a maximum forecast of 18°C, according to Climatempo and the National Institute of Meteorology.

This mark places the capital of Paraná under the possibility of registering the lowest maximum temperature of 2026 so far.

The forecast indicates an unusual behavior for the end of April, as the cooling should not be restricted to the early morning.

With many clouds, high humidity, and the entry of cold air, temperatures tend to rise little even in the afternoon.

According to Inmet, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, should have a minimum of 14°C and a maximum of 18°C in Curitiba.

Climatempo also indicates a maximum of 18°C, with rain forecast and a high probability of instability during the day.

The scenario favors a reduced thermal amplitude, when the difference between the lowest and highest temperature of the day is small.

In practice, the sensation for the population should be one of continuous cold, without the typical recovery of the warmer hours.

Rain and clouds keep the temperature down in Curitiba

The combination of rain, overcast sky, and cold air helps explain why the capital might have an afternoon feeling like winter in the middle of autumn.

The constant presence of clouds reduces the incidence of sun on the surface and hinders warming throughout the day.

Even during intervals without precipitation, the atmosphere should remain humid and heavy.

Therefore, the temperature may remain at a low level for several hours, especially between late morning and mid-afternoon.

This behavior is noteworthy because, in autumn, it is common for minimums to appear at dawn, while the afternoon still registers some warming.

With this change in weather, the highlight is precisely the difficulty for thermometers to rise.

Furthermore, humidity tends to reinforce the sensation of cold in the streets, at bus terminals, and in open areas.

With the maximum held at 18°C, a coat is no longer necessary only at the beginning of the day and will accompany the routine for longer.

Dry April intensifies perception of a change in the weather

The change occurs in a month marked by rainfall still below average in Curitiba, according to data released by Climatempo.

By April 27, the accumulated rainfall in the city corresponded to about 53% of what was expected for the period.

The average monthly rainfall in April is 81 millimeters, according to Climatempo itself, based on 30 years of reanalysis data.

In this context, the arrival of a rainier and colder day increases the perception of a weather shift.

The contrast also helps explain the impact of the forecast.

After days with lower precipitation volume, the sequence of cloudiness and persistent rain changes the urban landscape and alters the thermal sensation perceived by residents.

Curitiba has a high altitude and a history of more significant cold episodes compared to other Brazilian capitals.

Even so, a maximum of 18°C during an April weekday stands out for directly affecting commutes, clothing, and outdoor activities.

Lowest maximum of the year enters meteorological radar

The eventual confirmation of the 18°C maximum could transform Tuesday into a meteorological landmark of the year in the capital of Paraná.

This data is relevant because it measures not only the cold of the early morning but also the limit of warming throughout the entire day.

When the maximum temperature is low, the cold becomes more noticeable to the population.

This occurs because the period that normally concentrates the highest temperatures also remains under the influence of instability and colder air.

The forecast does not, by itself, mean a confirmed record.

The mark will depend on the measurement observed throughout Tuesday and the comparison with data previously recorded in 2026 by official meteorological stations.

Still, the possibility of the **lowest heat peak of the year** gives weight to the predicted change.

Instead of a generic alert for rain and temperature drop, the scenario points to an entire day with an atypical thermal pattern for the end of April.

Out-of-season winter feeling dominates the capital

Tuesday should be marked by overcast skies, rain at different times, and little thermal variation.

Climatempo’s forecast mentions the possibility of drizzle in the morning, showers during the afternoon, and a rainy night.

With this combination, Curitiba tends to have a prolonged cold feeling, more associated with cold air incursions in winter than with a common autumn afternoon.

The temperature rise should be limited by the lack of sun and the maintenance of humidity.

The instability can also make the perceived temperature lower than the measured temperature at times, especially in exposed areas.

Although the official number is important, the daily impact usually appears in how the cold persists for hours on end.

For those moving around the city, the change should be felt from the first hours of the day.

The overcast weather and rain reduce luminosity, make the environment more humid, and reinforce the perception of a Tuesday colder than the calendar suggests.

The forecast puts Curitiba on alert because it combines three direct impact factors: **persistent rain, low maximum temperature, and the possibility of the coldest afternoon of the year so far**. If the 18°C mark is confirmed, the capital will experience one of the clearest episodes of daytime cold in 2026.
