Who Can Apply for the Selection Process
The process is open to graduates from any area of knowledge — bachelor’s, teaching, or technology — as long as the diploma is recognized by the MEC.
Graduates can take a provisional enrollment and have 60 days, starting from the enrollment date, to submit the final documentation.
Simultaneous enrollment in two stricto sensu courses or in stricto sensu with undergraduate or lato sensu is not allowed, according to UFPI’s internal regulations.
Duration and Start of Classes
The course must be completed within a minimum period of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months, with the possibility of exceptional extension of up to six months, upon justification.
Activities will take place at the Center for Human Sciences and Languages (CCHL), Minister Petrônio Portella Campus, in Teresina, with the academic year starting according to the 2026 Graduate Calendar.
Research Lines and Projects of the Program
Candidates must present a project aligned with one of the research lines of the Program.
The announcement lists two fronts: “State and Political Institutions”, dedicated to the analysis of the State, its institutions, and decision-making processes; and “Democracy, Political Behavior, and Citizenship”, which encompasses democratic regimes, citizenship, public opinion, elections, and parties, including cultural and attitudinal dimensions.
The project must indicate concentration area, research line, and possible advisor, in alignment with the faculty’s areas of interest.
Stages and Selection Criteria
The selection takes place in four phases.
The first is the verification of enrollment (eliminatory).
Next, the analysis of the research project is eliminatory and classificatory, with a minimum score of 7.0 on a scale of 0 to 10.
The third stage is the online interview — also eliminatory and classificatory — with a minimum score of 7.0, covering the project and central themes of Political Science.
Finally, there is the curriculum analysis, which is classificatory.
The evaluation of the project considers, among other aspects, research design, theoretical foundation, academic relevance, feasibility in 24 months, and alignment with the Program’s lines.
Deadlines and Schedule of the Announcement
The registration and project submission period runs from 09/30 to 10/17/2025, exclusively via SIGAA.
The homologation of registrations is scheduled for 11/01/2025, with a deadline for appeals on 11/03 and results of appeals on 11/04.
The results of the project analysis are scheduled for 11/16, with appeals on 11/18.
The other dates and publications will be announced on the PPGCP/UFPI portal and will follow the announcement schedule.
Structure and Formatting of the Research Project
The project must be submitted in PDF, with up to 12 pages including cover and references, in Portuguese, Times New Roman font size 12, 1.5 spacing, and in compliance with the current ABNT standards.
The cover must contain only the candidate’s CPF and there should be no nominal identification in the body of the text.
Elements such as summary, keywords, problem, hypotheses, objectives, justification, methodology, theoretical framework, schedule, and references must be included.
Indicating a possible advisor is mandatory, and may be reassigned by the committee as needed for academic purposes.
Required Documents and Institutional Norms
The selection requires, among other documents, proof of graduation, medical report for those competing for reserved spots for people with disabilities, and forms specific to the announcement.
The Program emphasizes that the coordination definitively defines the advisor for each master’s student and that, for pedagogical reasons, supervisions may be reassigned during the course.
Omissions will be resolved by the Selection Committee and, if necessary, forwarded to the PPGCP committee.
Class Locations and Additional Information
Classes are held in-person at CCHL/UFPI, in Teresina.
The announcement notes that the start will follow the 2026 post-graduate university calendar.
Additional information and forms are available on the Program’s public page on SIGAA, where official communications are also published throughout the process.
How to Apply
Applications must be made on the SIGAA of UFPI, with the upload of the research project at the time of application.
The candidate needs to monitor the official publications of the PPGCP for homologations, partial and final results, and deadlines for appeals.
The announcement establishes that the course begins in the first academic term of 2026 and sets requirements such as minimum score of 7.0 in eliminatory phases and adherence of the project to one of the Program’s lines.
Given this scenario, have you already chosen the research line and structured a viable project to be executed in up to 24 months?
