The University of São Paulo (USP) revealed that it currently has nearly a thousand books available for people interested in acquiring knowledge for free.
The habit of reading is aligned with knowledge and learning. With this in mind, USP highlighted that it offers numerous options of books in various fields of study for those interested in reading.
Today, according to the university, there are options of books in areas such as engineering, health, education, tourism, and architecture. In addition to these themes, themed collections are also available that can be easily downloaded from the platform.
Besides the Books
USP reported that there are also about seven thousand international publications available. Among them are, for example, brochures on gastronomy, arts, sciences, sports, and entertainment.

According to the institution, the initiative is open to all interested parties from different fields of study. In this sense, USP reports that the digital era brings with it the ease of access to knowledge in various disciplines, without the need to travel.
How to Access the Content
Regarding access to the content, individuals interested in using the Open Books Portal of USP, similar to that used by renowned universities such as Stanford in the United States and Simon Fraser in Canada, should know that it is not necessary to be a student of the institution to enter and view the publications.
This collection, under the management of the Agency for Libraries and Digital Collections (ABCD), features collections such as the “Botanical Collection,” “Myths of Postmodernity Collection,” and “Open Museum and Asian Studies Collection.”
In addition to the Open Books Portal, it is also possible to access the digital library, which contains many journals published by various teaching and research units of the university. According to the information, these journals are open access and contain the full text of the articles.
In total, there are 201 journal titles, about 25 million accesses, and more than 20 million article downloads, according to data from 2021. This page is also managed by ABCD and includes publications in areas such as Health Sciences, Exact and Earth Sciences/Engineering, Humanities, Applied Human Sciences, and Linguistics, Letters, and Arts.
