Promising Partnership in Sustainable Energy Production May Bring More Innovation
Vibra, a Brazilian giant in fuel and energy distribution, and Inpasa, a leader in renewable fuel production in Latin America, announced a strategic partnership. The non-binding Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies marks the beginning of studies for the manufacturing and marketing of green methanol. This step represents a significant innovation for Vibra, and expands its reach into a new market segment focused on sustainable solutions for maritime transport.
Innovation in Renewable Fuels
The agreement focuses on the development of green methanol, derived from by-products of ethanol, with the main objective of supplying the maritime and industrial sectors. The companies will assess the feasibility of installing a dedicated plant for the production of this green methanol. The partnership will also explore the best business structure to advance this initiative, reinforcing the history of successful collaborations between Vibra and Inpasa.
Ernesto Pousada, CEO of Vibra, highlights the importance of this business for building a green methanol industrial chain. The initiative is vital for maritime transport companies to reduce their carbon footprint and offer more sustainable services.

Fernando de Noronha begins unprecedented energy transformation with a R$ 350 million solar plant that promises to replace diesel generation and change the island’s sustainable future by 2027.
Inpasa, for its part, plans to capture the CO2 emitted during ethanol production, using it to obtain green methanol. This process results in a low-carbon energy source, representing a significant alternative to fossil fuels.
Founded in 2007 in Paraguay, Inpasa today stands out among the largest global structures in its segment. The company uses renewable inputs, such as biomass from various sources, converting them into steam and electricity. This not only ensures energy self-sufficiency but also reflects a lower carbon footprint.
Inpasa is known for its DDGS, used in animal nutrition, and for cereal oil, essential for biofuels and feed manufacturing. With its IOP Technology, the company also significantly contributes to agriculture. Currently, it has three plants in operation in Brazil and two under development.
