In addition to Vivo's plant in Rio Grande do Norte, another 22 company plants are already in full operation in the country.

Vivo, which entered the sustainable world to also stimulate the generation of 100% renewable energy, inaugurated in Nova Cruz its first solar power plant focused on distributed generation in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Energy generation capacity of Vivo's new Distributed Generation solar plant reaches more than 4.000 Megawatts per hour/year

Vivo's solar plant was built in partnership with Grupo Gera, in an area of eight hectares, the plant will have a solar energy source, with the possibility of generating around 4.905 Megawatts per hour/year.

The production of Vivo's new plant in Rio Grande do Norte will very soon be attached to the network of the distribution company of COSERN, originating from the Neoenergia Group, to assist in the consumption supply of more than 320 units of Vivo, such as stores, offices, antennas, in addition to transmission equipment, which are located in the concession area served by the distributor.

With the arrival of Vivo's solar plant in Rio Grande do Norte, new perspectives arise for the state

Vivo's solar plant in Nova Cruz has already arrived, bringing several social, environmental and, mainly, economic benefits to the region. Before the initial stage of construction, around 65 jobs were generated. Already in the operational phase, there are currently 5 fixed jobs. In addition, several improvement works were carried out in the part of the electrical network that is located around the company's power plant.

The current Director of Heritage at Vivo, Caio Guimarães, stated that in addition to contributing to the environment, distributed generation of energy brings relief to the distribution system, precisely because it is renewable and causes minimal impacts, generating savings and sustainability.

Guimarães highlighted this by saying that this is a great and important initiative by Vivo in the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) scope. The Director of Heritage also spoke about the benefits that this plant will bring to the entire community in the region, as well as to companies in the state and especially to the planet, with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Distributed Generation Production in Brazil

This initiative is part of Vivo's strategy framework, which aims to expand its own energy production from renewable sources. With 85 plants foreseen in the company's distributed generation program for all of Brazil, around 22 are already in full operation, in different regions of Brazil and with different partners and investors.

Vivo's plants are producing energy from solar, water or biogas sources. This production of Distributed Generation of energy through Vivo's plants in the country will respond to around 89% of low voltage consumption and will supply more than 30 thousand units of Vivo throughout Brazil.

The distributed solar energy market actually started here in Brazil only in 2012. Although some consumers already used this technology, its regulation was only made after Normative Resolution 482 of 2012. It was responsible for creating the rules of distributed generation and is considered as a legal framework for solar energy.

The expectation is that around 711 MWh/year of energy will be generated, enough to supply the consumption of a city with up to 320 inhabitants.
