The expectation is that the enterprise will start operating next month, as announced this week by Governor Reinaldo Azambuja.
“We signed an agreement with Lar Cooperativa Agroindustrial for the operation of this complex in Caarapó, which has grain storage bases in Bandeirantes, Bela Vista, and Ponta Porã. This shows the confidence that entrepreneurs have in Mato Grosso do Sul, which is becoming increasingly competitive,” the governor emphasized.

The new biodiesel plant of Lar has the capacity to process 1,500 tons of soy per day. It can also produce 300 tons of biodiesel every 24 hours. The entire structure of the industry remained idle for 11 years until it was purchased and revitalized by Lar last year.
“We have been investing in Caarapó for two years to start operating this soybean industry that will process 450,000 tons of the grain per year and generate almost R$ 1 billion in revenue. For this, the State Government has given us the conditions to operate competitively,” said the president of Lar, Irineo da Costa Rodrigues.
Located near BR-163, on a 30-hectare area, the biodiesel plant in Caarapó has grain reception structures in cities that until recently had no aptitude for agriculture, such as Bandeirantes and Bela Vista.
According to Secretary Jaime Verruck (Environment, Economic Development, Production, and Family Agriculture), the entire proposal is part of the strategic line of the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul to attract new entrepreneurs, add value to production, and generate more jobs.
Incentive for Cooperativism in Mato Grosso do Sul
The installation of Lar’s biodiesel plant in Caarapó, within the State Program for the Development and Strengthening of Cooperativism in Mato Grosso do Sul (Procoop), contributes to the development of an activity that was responsible for 10% of the State GDP in 2017.
Today, Lar is considered one of the main cooperatives in Paraná. The group has been in the State for over 20 years, has 17 operational sites, and owns 37 warehouses. “Surely, we have one of the largest static capacities for receiving and storing grains in MS,” highlighted President Irineo Rodrigues.
