Analysis From Carros.com Reveals Vehicles Ignored by the Market in 2025 That Deliver Durability, Robust Mechanics, and Low Prices

In the current automotive scenario, many consumers focus solely on new releases or sales leaders, missing out on valuable opportunities in the used car market. According to a detailed analysis by the channel Carros.com, there are reliable models that are completely overlooked in 2025, suffering an unfair depreciation, but offering a mechanical and equipment package superior to direct competitors.

The expectation is that, by 2026, the demand for these vehicles will increase significantly as the public recognizes the cost-benefit they provide. These options range from medium hatches with European dynamics to seven-seater SUVs with a V6 engine, all at attractive prices and known maintenance costs. Below, we detail five options that the market neglects but are rational and smart purchases.

Ford Focus SE Plus 1.6 2016

The Ford Focus SE Plus 1.6 (from 2016) is highlighted by Carros.com as one of the most unfairly overlooked vehicles in Brazil. Although it has been discontinued, it remains one of the best choices among used medium hatches, particularly due to its multilink rear suspension. This technical feature ensures superior stability compared to many current SUVs, providing firmness in curves and comfort in urban use.

Unlike versions that suffered with the Powershift transmission, this specific configuration is equipped with a manual five-speed transmission, eliminating the fear of costly maintenance and reinforcing its position among reliable models. The Sigma 1.6 Flex engine delivers up to 135 horsepower (ethanol) and a torque of 16.7 kgfm. Priced between R$ 55,000 and R$ 65,000, it offers dual-zone digital air conditioning, six airbags, and traction control, providing much more safety than similarly priced popular models.

Nissan Sentra 2014

Another highlight in the list of reliable models is the Nissan Sentra (2014 generation). This midsize sedan is often overlooked compared to rivals Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, yet it delivers the same mechanical durability at a much lower price, ranging from R$ 45,000 to R$ 50,000 for the top-of-the-line SL version. Its behavior is mature, quiet, and stable, making it ideal for urban and highway use.

Under the hood, the 2.0 Flex engine with 140 horsepower works in conjunction with the CVT Xtronic transmission, known for its smoothness and durability. The interior space is one of the largest in its class, with a 2.70 m wheelbase and a 503-liter trunk. Additionally, the SL version is extremely well-equipped, featuring a sunroof (in some units), dual-zone digital air, and leather seats, proving that market prejudice creates excellent buying opportunities.

Peugeot 208 2020

In the compact segment, the second-generation Peugeot 208 (2020) presents itself as an intelligent option. Although it was criticized at launch for not debuting with a turbo engine, the brand’s choice of the 1.6 EC5 engine proved advantageous for low long-term maintenance costs. This engine is extremely well-known among mechanics and delivers up to 118 horsepower, ensuring balanced performance and fuel consumption that can reach 13.3 km/l with gasoline.

The standout feature of this model, which costs between R$ 60,000 and R$ 80,000, is its interior finish and design. The i-Cockpit concept, with a raised dashboard and small steering wheel, provides a feeling of a higher category, with quality materials even though they are rigid plastic. It is one of the reliable models for those seeking an urban car that escapes the visual monotony of Onix and HB20, without giving up features like a panoramic sunroof and complete multimedia connectivity.

Hyundai Elantra 2017

Stepping up to more sophisticated sedans, the Hyundai Elantra (2017) is a clear example of an underestimated car. While a Corolla of the same year exceeds R$ 100,000, the Elantra can be found between R$ 80,000 and R$ 85,000, providing similar quality in terms of build. It shares the same 2.70 m wheelbase as its Japanese rival but offers a design that remains contemporary and an interior with exemplary ergonomics.

Mechanically, it is equipped with a 2.0 Flex engine with up to 167 horsepower and a conventional six-speed automatic transmission (with torque converter), a combination that reinforces its reputation among reliable models. The GLS version comes with features such as electric leather seats, six airbags, blind spot detection, and digital air conditioning. It is a car that delivers refinement and power but suffers from the “blindness” of the Brazilian market.

Hyundai Grand Santa Fé

For those needing real space, the Hyundai Grand Santa Fé (2014) is the definitive choice. This SUV fills the void left by the Veracruz and offers seven seats with ample comfort, thanks to its 2.80 m wheelbase. The model is powered by a powerful 3.3 V6 Lambda II engine with 270 horsepower and on-demand AWD, ensuring the strength to move its 1,870 kg with agility.

With an average price between R$ 100,000 and R$ 110,000, it is a “lounge on wheels,” equipped with a dual panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a 585-liter trunk (with 5 seats). Although fuel consumption is high (about 6 km/l in the city), it offers a luxury experience and robustness that is hard to find in this price range. For those seeking something smaller, the conventional Santa Fé version (5 seats) is also among the reliable models of the brand, costing a bit less.

Do you agree that the Brazilian market undervalues cars that are technically superior? Among the models on this list, which one would you have the courage to buy today? Please share your honest opinion in the comments below.
