Bracell’s Megafactory, Global Leader in Pulp Production, in São Paulo Will Generate Many Jobs and Can Produce Up to 3 Million Tons Annually
São Paulo will gain one of the largest pulp factories in the world! The multinational Bracell received new licenses from Cetesb (Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo) for the construction of its pulp megafactory in Lençóis Paulista (SP). The project can produce up to 3 million tons annually and will generate many jobs in the region.

The licensing, which is public, confirms the installation of the project and, more than that, shows that it is twice as large as originally planned and announced by the company.
The volumes previously announced by Bracell have been increased. The company initially estimated a total production of 1.5 million tons of fiber per year, considering 250 thousand tons from the existing line obtained from Lwarcel. Now, with the new preliminary and installation licenses, the company can achieve a production of up to 3 million tons annually.

Bracell’s Pulp Megafactory in São Paulo Can Produce Up to 3 Million Tons Annually
This was included in the first scenario estimated by the company, also with a total production of 1.5 million tons per year, being 1.25 million tons of dissolving pulp and 250 thousand tons of kraft (from the existing line).
The new estimate, with production focused on kraft – the main type of pulp produced in Brazil – the megafactory in São Paulo may reach a total of 3 million tons annually, being 250 thousand tons from the existing line and 2.75 million tons from the expansion project.
It is worth noting that, in 2018, the Royal Golden Eagle group from Singapore purchased Lwarcel and announced plans to expand the factory in the interior of São Paulo.
There have been rumors, since last year, that the Star Project, which plans to build one of the largest dissolving pulp factories in the world, originally budgeted at R$ 8 billion, was even more ambitious.
Bracell Will Transport Its Pulp Factory Output Using MRS’s Road-Rail System to the Port of Santos (SP)

The new Bracell factory under construction, one of the largest producers of dissolving pulp and specialty pulp in the world, is partnering with MRS to transport pulp from its factory in Lençóis Paulista to the Port of Santos. To enable this entire logistical structure, the companies have been making significant investments, such as the construction of an operational base in Pederneiras, with an estimated creation of up to 70 job openings.
Scheduled to begin operations in the second half of this year, the new production volume from Bracell’s factory will require a complex logistical operation to transport the pulp from Lençóis Paulista to the Port of Santos.
The pulp will be transported by trucks to the Intermodal Terminal in Pederneiras, which will then follow the route operated by MRS to the terminals at the Port of Santos. The rail route from Pederneiras to Santos is 510 km long.
Partnership Between the Companies for Transporting the Raw Material Will Generate Jobs in the State
To make this entire logistical structure feasible, Bracell, in partnership with MRS, has been making significant investments, such as the construction of an operational base in Pederneiras, with an estimated creation of up to 70 jobs.
According to Alberto Pagano, Head of Supply Chain at Bracell SP, the logistical solution adopted by the company prioritizing rail mode brings a series of benefits aligned with the environment and the sustainability of the business, such as reducing atmospheric emissions in the transportation of production. “In addition to adhering to Bracell’s sustainability guidelines, the logistical operations will create job opportunities both in the area near the factory and at the Port of Santos. The delivery of the first wagons is an important milestone in advancing the project that will ensure Bracell’s exports,” he commented.
