Russia expands export of the Su-57E after first delivery and targets new countries in the global stealth fighter market.
The international debut of the Su-57E marks a turning point in Russia’s role in the global defense market, with Algeria becoming the first country to operate the stealth fighter jet of the fifth generation outside Russian territory. This movement occurs in 2026 and involves a broader strategy to attract new buyers in regions such as Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
The negotiation is led by the state-owned Rosoboronexport, responsible for expanding Russia’s military presence abroad. The advancement takes place in a context of strong competition with Western manufacturers, making each contract even more relevant. Thus, Moscow bets on the Su-57E as a central piece to expand its international influence.
Su-57E opens doors for new businesses for Russia
The entry of the Su-57E into the international market is not limited to a single sale. For Russia, the initial delivery serves as a catalyst for future negotiations. With the aircraft already in operation outside the country, the confidence of potential buyers increases. Thus, the model is seen as a viable option in the advanced fighter segment.

The demand for the Su-57E has been gradually increasing, according to the Russian industry itself. Rosoboronexport highlights progress in negotiations with different countries. According to the state-owned company, “the Su-57E is generating great interest among Rosoboronexport partners, several of whom have already signed contracts for the Russian fighter.”

This scenario reinforces Russia’s strategy to expand its customer base.
International exhibitions increase visibility
To strengthen its presence, Russia uses international events as a showcase for the Su-57E. Participation in DSA 2026 in Malaysia is part of this plan. These fairs serve as a meeting point between governments and manufacturers. Additionally, they facilitate negotiations and commercial agreements.
Even before the delivery to Algeria, the Su-57E had already been presented in other countries. Russia invests in demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of the fighter. In 2024, the aircraft was taken to China and displayed at the Zhuhai Airshow. In 2025, it participated in Aero India, with maneuvers performed by pilot Sergey Bogdan.
Russia positions Su-57E against western competitors
On the global stage, the Su-57E is presented as an alternative to western fighters. Russia seeks to attract countries that wish to diversify suppliers. Among the main competitors is the F-35, widely used by U.S. allies. Therefore, the competition involves technology, cost, and political alignment.

The expansion of the Su-57E focuses on specific regions. Russia concentrates efforts on countries planning to modernize their air forces. Asia and the Middle East emerge as priority areas. Additionally, Africa also gains relevance with Algeria’s entry into the program.
India could determine Russia’s next steps
India emerges as one of Russia’s main commercial targets for the Su-57E. The country is evaluating the acquisition of fifth-generation fighters. With a history of military cooperation, including the use of the Su-30MKI, New Delhi could facilitate Russian expansion. This opens a window of opportunity for new contracts.
More than a military product, the Su-57E represents a strategic instrument for Russia. The export of the fighter strengthens alliances and expands its global influence.
