In response to request 1621/2019 by federal deputy Fábio Henrique (PDT/SE), on November 12, minister Bento Albuquerque and Petrobras president – Roberto Castello Branco – assumed that they are closing some bases in Brazil, including the Rua do Acre in Aracaju,

“As for the alleged departure of Petrobras' Administrative Headquarters from Sergipe and the closure of the Company's operations in this same State, it is reiterated that, at the moment, this topic is not under discussion”, says the minister.

As for the establishment located in Aracaju/SE, in Acre Street, the activities carried out there are being transferred, in a staggered way, until March 2020, to the Carmópolis Base”, said André Luis Fares Francis, Demands manager.

According to the company, the company informed its employees at meetings held throughout the month of November by the local unit.

Petrobras also informed that it has been implementing efforts to reduce its indebtedness, currently around R$90 billion dollars, and building management is one of the strategies that the Company has adopted.

“The optimization of costs in processes and activities, an effort by the work teams that directly serve that unit in a single environment, to better achieve results, seeking greater efficiency, rationality and sustainability of the business”, specified the document that is also subscribed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

In 2015, the Company occupied 72 properties in Brazil, and in 2019 that number was reduced to 38. According to the state-owned company, this reduction generated a reduction in expenses of approximately R$ 700 million for Petrobras, in addition to greater integration of teams in unique spaces.

Fábio Henrique emphasized that Sergipe's economy will be shaken and several Sergipe companies will lose with this closure. The deputy pointed out that Sergipe is an oil-producing state with large discoveries of natural gas reserves.

Faced with the official response to the closure of Petrobras in Aracaju, federal deputy Fábio Henrique will talk to the coordinator of the federal bench in Sergipe so that there is collective action by the entire bench. “I hope, above all, to count on the support of all congressional colleagues, especially those who make up the governing base, to prevent Petrobras from closing its doors”, concluded the deputy.
