The company from the J&F group, Âmbar Energia, is about to become the fourth largest natural gas generation park in Brazil with the acquisition of the thermoelectric plant in Araucária (484 MW) in Paraná. The transaction was conducted by Âmbar, which signed a contract with Copel to acquire 81.2% of the plant for R$ 320.7 million. With this acquisition, the company will strengthen its position in the gas power generation market in Brazil.
Âmbar already owns the UTE Cuiabá plants, located in Mato Grosso, and UTE Uruguaiana, located in Rio Grande do Sul, on the border with Argentina. Now, the company will expand its presence and generating capacity by adding the thermoelectric plant of Araucária to its portfolio. With this acquisition, Âmbar will reinforce its position as one of the leading natural gas generation operators in the country, contributing to the supply of electricity in a sustainable and efficient manner.
