After Acquiring Three New Wind Farms, AES Brazil, a Producer of Sustainable and Affordable Energy, Can Advance Its Power Generation Capacity
A AES Brazil has incorporated approximately 456 MW of installed power capacity from the acquisition of three new wind farms: Ventos do Araripe in Piauí, Caetés in Pernambuco, and Cassino in Rio Grande do Sul.
The three new wind farms of clean energy from AES Brazil are contracted in the regulated environment, being 100% operational and have supply until 2035. This way, AES Brazil has doubled its installed power capacity compared to 5 years ago and will have 5.2 GW of installed power capacity, 100% renewable, with 57% coming from wind and solar plants and 43% originating from hydropower, where 4.2 GW are operational and 1.0 GW are under construction, making AES Brazil the 3rd largest player in renewable energy.
AES Brazil Considers Installed Capacity of Other Wind Farms
AES Brazil is also considering the installed capacity under construction of the Tucano and Cajuína wind farms, which have 455.9 MW of operational wind energy capacity, acquired this August and still subject to changes as the projects are optimized.

“We are looking for new and good opportunities, regardless of whether they are greenfield or M&A. AES Brazil’s excellent operational capacity allows us to take on challenges with the purchase of operational assets that under our operation maximize their profitability,” reported AES Brazil’s mergers and acquisitions director, Bernardo Sacic.
Clarissa Sadock, CEO of AES Brazil, commented: “Our strategic position stands out from other wind farms as it constitutes a vehicle for growth in 100% renewable energy, with a continuous investment in the expansion of our generating plants of energy and the development of new technologies and innovative products.” The total value of the purchase procedure for the new plants is up to R$ 2 billion, and the completion of the operation will depend on the fulfillment of common conditions precedent for this type of transaction.
“I would like to emphasize that this is the 5th M&A (merger and acquisition) and the largest carried out by AES Brazil to date, reaffirming the company’s successful trajectory and directing towards another essential step for our growth strategy and portfolio diversification through the acquisition of wind farms and the development of complementary hydropower energy projects. We are here once again generating value through growth for our shareholders,” concluded the CEO of AES Brazil.
With the Acquisition of New Wind Farms, AES Brazil Can Increase Its Private Capital
Shortly after the acquisition of the new wind farms, AES Brazil is forecasting a private capital increase that could reach approximately R$ 1.1 billion to assist in financing the wind farms, according to data from AES Brazil’s CEO.
Additionally, the CEO reported that only the company’s shareholders will be able to participate in the capital increase, further adding that the controlling group of AES Brazil could invest approximately US$ 100 million.
