The Beginning of the 2023/2024 Sugarcane Harvest Was Celebrated with Great Fanfares on Wednesday (29) by Bevap Bioenergia, One of Brazil’s Leading Ethanol, Sugar, and Cogeneration Power Plants.
The occasion, which took place at the company headquarters located in the municipality of João Pinheiro in Northwest Minas Gerais, was well attended. The ceremony had a wide audience of participants, including employees, management, directors, shareholders, local authorities, and members of various sectors of the community.

The annual celebration is a common practice in the sector, serving to express gratitude for past achievements and seek divine blessings for the upcoming harvest. The 13th iteration of Bevap was graced by a priest and a pastor, who shared inspiring anecdotes from the Bible to emphasize the company’s importance to the community by generating jobs, income, and prosperity.
In addition to religious figures, the ceremony also featured remarks by President Newton Santana and shareholder representative Sergio Facchini, who emphasized the importance of safety.

“We are in a very special phase with a major change at Bevap, and when we talk about safety, it’s about getting everyone to work and, primarily, going home at the end of the day knowing that they’ll be in perfect shape for the next day,” said Newton Santana, who reinforced his message by wearing a shirt related to Sipat (Safety Week).
Employees play an important role in the celebrations, joining musical groups in formations like parades as they enter the premises carrying sugarcane seedlings and samples of products they produce from this raw material, such as sugar and alcohol. In his final remarks, Sergio Facchini also highlighted the importance of gratitude, humility, and faith, which should always be present in the company.
Bevap Bioenergia Achieved Crushing of 4.5 Million Tons of Sugarcane
For the 2021/22 harvest, the net revenue will be R$ 822 million, corresponding to the crushing of 2.78 million tons of sugarcane, production of 4.66 million bags of sugar, and 90,000 cubic meters of ethanol. For the next harvest, 2022/23, the expectation is to raise R$ 955 million, with crushing of 2.8 million tons of sugarcane, production of 4.97 million bags of sugar, and 100,000 cubic meters of ethanol.
Bevap is responsible for 1,450 direct jobs and over 7,000 indirect ones, making it the largest generator of jobs, income, and opportunities in the João Pinheiro region in Minas Gerais.
